Pardon me, but...

Post by ka959 »

Hello there, all who might be interested...

I learned to get the newer colour-light signals, supplied with the GARL route, working well for a while, at least. I asked for a bit of assistance, to begin with, and it worked out well, but after a while of not using these signals, I seem to have forgotten the codes needed to be entered in each signal installed, for the F1 & F4 types, and others like the F45, etc. I recall something to do with 2, 4 or 6, according to how tracks radiated out from a clockwise diagram, or something like that. You gave the signal a name, and several numbers, if you preferred, and put the numbers in the 2 or 3 fields. So could anyone please kindly offer to refresh my memory, so I can get these signals working again ? Thanks heaps, if you can.

Regards...

First off I would like to thank everyone who has purchased our GARL add-on DLC and for your continued support. Until RS.com provide more detailed general documentation on new signalling, I thought it would be helpful to answer this question in regard to our own new signals.

GARL Signalling Assets Configuration

I can confirm that you are allowed to use any of the new assets from GARL for your own route creation projects as long as you do not re-distribute them in any way. However you can share new routes and scenarios that reference the new assets as long as the actual assets themselves are not included. This means that whoever you send new routes to need to already have purchased a copy of GARL for your new route to operate. Any use or reference to our game assets is completely prohibited for payware and commercial projects. The best way to see how the signals are configured is to check in the RailWorks Route Editor how the GARL signals are setup in the setup dialog boxes. You open these dialog boxes by double-clicking on the signal posts in the editor (not the signal heads and you'll probably need to zoom-in).
--------------------------------------------
A quick summary is:

- ID1 = Signal Area Code (top line of number plate up to 4 characters)
- ID2 = Signal Number (bottom line of number plate up to 4 digits)

The other dialog boxes are route link specific (only apply to individual routes set ahead of the signal)

- Char = This is the Feather/Route Indicator or Theatre Character

For Feathers/Route Indicators use a number from 1 - 6 (see the GARL manual for an explanation of numbering conventions). For Theatre Characters you can use any single digit number or letter from the alphabet in upper case.

- Spd = Ignore - This is currently only used for the new RS.com German Signals

- App = Check this box to apply flashing approach control to this individual route (the flashing takes place on the one or two signals prior to this signal and limits this signal to a single yellow)

- Limit = Limits this signal to a single yellow for this individual route
--------------------------------------------

It is worth noting that in addition to our new enhanced UK signals there are also custom designed signals for GARL for unique locations (these are listed in the editor as custom.....). These custom signals are not flexible and are best ignored for new routes.

I hope everyone enjoys this new functionality. :D

All the best

Alan
