South West Wales... beta pre-release info

Post by pacerpilot »

As you may have seen in the Route building thread, I intend to release a beta of SWW this coming week via UKTS.
The route is freeware as I originally intended but will require payware. I make no apologies for this. I want the route to be as accurate as possible from an operational point of view, and use of the IoW, B-E and GARL assets is the only way to achieve this.

The route is pretty much complete from Whitland to Swansea. All sceneried, signalled and working pretty well. There is however a fair amount of work left to do on the remaining areas, namely Margam - Landore. They are all track laid, signalled, most of the speeds are done but need scenery. There are sporadic areas with scenery but little continuity. I just want to get a beta out for you to have play with.
However,if you are looking for Helicopter Sim, this isnt for you. If you are looking for South Wales Trunk Road simulator, this isn't for you. But, you will get a route, with correct signalling within the limits of RW, correct speeds, points where there should be points...correct signage, you get the picture. Some permissible speeds do not have a corresponding speed board/sign. This IS correct. Not every permissible speed change has the luxury or a sign so you will need to learn the route.
I will try to put some scenarios together to go with the route but these too will require payware. Some very generous members of this forum have also created scenarios for the route and these too will hopefully be made available to you.

Unfortunately I don't have B-E or GARL, and at the moment don't have any desire to buy them either, but that's another story. Having said that I am still very much looking forward to hearing other peoples comments about this route. Well done for getting this far. :)

Really looking forward to this one and what a credit to the creator that he has continued on his mission to ensure this route is freeware despite what must have been a very tempting route to sell off to a payware firm.

With scenarios included this will be a fantastic gift to many people who are facing hard-up times at the moment, I for one have had to seriously reign in my RW spending lately and let several new products slip by. What a great act for Pacerpilot to do this project for no personal gain whatsoever. For those that have followed its progress for years then this is probably as much an anticipated release as WCML was but only this time it's for totally free.
