Come on mate, nobody said the route is awful only the soul-less units that run on it! The route is arguably one of the best routes in the sim payware or freeware. Scenario's, now you're talking, how about a couple of 20's on a leaf-killer mission? Class 31 on an engineers train? Class 50 on a railtour? in fact on the railtour theme you could take your pick from any of the loco's available.

This is a route the farthest from my knowledge that there possibly could be. I have never in my life been to the region or anywhere near it so I could be fooled by anything! What used to run on that line in the past? say each decade from the 70's onwards? Any modern Railworks route can easily pass for any era post 1970's providing age-appropriate AI stock is used.
I know, thats why I put the laughing face. My (bad) attempt at humour. It's a wonderful route.

I have been looking at railtour related things this morning, might have to get the timetables out.

Further to my last, I seem to have a distant memory that class 31's with Mk1s used to be frequent fliers in East Anglia in the 70's/80's??

Some posts have been split off into another thread that is not visible yet. It needs more work to see if it can be put back and make sense.

Please continue to discuss the Crouch Valley route and I will see if I can revive the other thread to a usable state so the discussion of freeware can continue.
Kindest regards

I have rightly or wrongly started a new Topic related to this because I feel very strongly about it This was before I saw your post John. Sorry if this has caused a problem.
Kind regards James.

To get back on Topic. A fine Route that is well constructed and one I will be enjoying for some time. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Kind regards James.

Yes that makes sense, is that a simple case of replacing the reference to the simulation file in the .bin? I'm more of a route builder then a reskinner :)

Josh
The original reply got split out somewhere... anyway I don't know if it's just replacing the sim file, I'd have to check the scripts for any differences.

The white livery is just NX grey/white without the grey vinyls... which is ridiculously cheap, even if it might be the end of franchise :P
My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

Back in the middle 70's I was rostered as secondman on a turn to take a 31 from Stratford MPD to Thornton Fields carriage sidings and work Mk1 stock ECS to Southend Victoria, run round and return as a service train. The fitters at the Ilford car sheds had gone on strike, so there were no Emus' available to run the sevice on that day. I Secondmaned up and drove back, trying to keep to the service timetable with all stops to Billericay then fast to Lv St. Great fun.

I also remember taking a 37 with ECS to Southend Vic in April to form a Mystery Railtour. We took it to Willesden where we came off and an 86 took over. we returned light engine to SF, trip only noteable for my failed battle to light the Stones boiler, tricky things them.

Clas 101 Wickford to Southminster, 37 sand Southminster_Mile End, 37 Nuclear Flask Southminster_ Willesden.

Just a few factual ideas for scenarios for those gifted people who have the knack. Alas not I.

I knew I'd love this route straight away because the Great(er) Eastern was always my favourite on MSTS, which included the Crouch Valley Lines.

It lived up to expectations, absolutely fantastic, I love it.

I have an issue with the Class 317 in that the vigilance won't cancel when pressing spacebar.

Try pressing the keypad enter key instead.

Got it sorted now, thanks.

Didn't copy the .bin file over, didn't think I'd need as I would control the unit from the cab using the mouse.

awful freeware route.
How rude ;-) ;-) ;-) note the smiley faces I knew it was just humour.

Thanks for the ongoing feedback and I am glad people are enjoying it. Does make it worthwhile and during the long hard route building when you wonder why on earth you are doing it, its firstly so I love it and secondly that hopefully others will like it too.

I hope some can come up with some new scenarios as I only did basic ones for people to explore the route and thats why i asked Davveb if I could include the 317 so that no additional downloads were needed. I missed whatever the issue was with the 'awful' comment but can only say that when the 317 come out i was chuffed to bits with it and thought how lucky I was to have a emu at last. The lastest incarnations especially the 318 are lovely and a credit to dave.

I wonder if we could convince RS or someone to make some great eastern stock like the oldschool EMUs, the 315, 321, 360 and 90? If this freeware route was popular enough then surely a great eastern stock pack would get good sales?

IIRC Oovee have confirmed that their Class 90 project is still 'in the pipeline', so at least that one will be among us eventually. A 321, isn't this strictly a 317 with different fronts and bogies? Maybe something for Dave Brindley (and I guess a 321 could 'stand in' for a 319, 320, 322 as well)?

Easyjet have just announced they will be flying from Southend Airport middle of next year. My paper says 13 trains per hour, should be fun mixing normal service trains with these on only two running lines. Perhaps there is room for a reversing siding.

Heathrow Express, Gatwick Express, 'Southend Express' hmm. Stobart liveried passenger stock as they own the airport now? Veerry interesting :o
