To cut a long story short, I have been trying to do somethink like this for months now and i have finally got something working.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EifxnRH6FRs

The system works using an old Gameport to USB converter that i had found, because Gameport is analog it is really easy to wire up (see here for wiring diagrams http://www.simprojects.nl/joystick_connection.htm). It can have 4 axis (So, Throttle, Train Brake, Loco Brake, Reverser (the one in the video only has Throttle, Train Brake and Reverser)) that are all independently controlled, it can also have 4 buttons that can be programed to different things. Ive set it up to do (AWS cancel, Driver Guard Buzzers and a two tone horn. The controller interfaces with Railworks using NeutronIC's RailWorks Joystick Interface Beta 5 (http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 18&t=96124) and JoytoKey (http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/Jo ... ersion.htm).
Its all constructed out of K'nex so that it can be changed easily. The total cost would be around £25, so its a lot cheaper then RailDriver! Ive put together a flickr set of some photos aswell http://www.flickr.com/photos/67016/sets ... 6497112653 :D

Not so sure about a Voyager, the two ends of the speed scale are wrapped around close to the bottom. Not an expert on speedos of course but just from looking at pics.

At the moment there is a working speedo. The Engine start and stop buttons work, the driver guard button works and the Engine Light and general fault light comes on when the engine is off!

This is honestly stunning work... I'm still baffled as to how he has managed to sync the game to the actual speedo.... it's most probably the closest we could get to the real thing... In terms of realism.....
