Brilliant! Shudder to think of the work and lateral thinking itches taken to do that!

This is awesome, slightly ecceennntric but still v impressive. If you had the money, would be worth buying a scrap HST cab, put it in your garden, get one huge screen and wire up as many controls as you can this way, If i had the money and brains, i would love to have a go at this.

fab work!

I think there is an actual Deltic cab floating around somewhere, on the back of a lorry and wired up for simulation.

It would seem so, although it appears to be set up for Trainz at present. 8)

The SD40 cab is up for $8,000 plus postage & packaging.

I've had a "peripheral" - actually a class 47 drivers desk in my garage for a couple of years now, hoping that I could interface it with Railworks.
I have no idea how to do it, so any information you could give... :D

I did ask the guys at Raildriver if they would sell me the inards of a console or whatever to get the desk working but they didn't seem too keen.

I'm watching this post with real interest.

You could always buy a complete RailDriver and take it apart. Compared to everything else you will need, that shouldn't be a huge expense.

Alternatively you could use the insides of a joystick or two. This would require a different approach to interfacing it to Railworks, but the mechanical aspects will be similar.
The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.

all you need is a joystick controller like this:
http://www.leobodnar.com/

and a couple of wires, potentiometers and switches and some tools to mate the cab to them.
should be much easier than using a raildriver controller.
