What a great thread, I commuted to and from london for 7 years in the early eighties and sometimes the run down Sole bank from Sole Street to the curve in Strood had my hair standing on end.
Want to recreate that one day I can tell you!

That shouldn't be a problem making that happen. Even if you tell the professionals to make it for you and they mutiny, you'll still have all the same route building tools available as everybody else!

For what it's worth, my equivalent experiences are of riding in the 2HAP which regularly formed part of six-/ten-coach workings between Waterloo and Guildford in the 80s and early 90s. Would love to recreate some happy memories of lively rides on the highly-spring seats.

While we're reminiscing, let's not forget the last days of the 4CORS when drivers were determined to get the maximum out of them before they were withdrawn.
Apologies to you youngsters who never experienced them, you'll never know what you missed!

Ultimately I'm sure you will have. I keep dropping heavy hints to a Canadian friend of mine who made a wonderful range of models for MSTS but he is heavily involved in his own route building for some time to come, so don't hold your breath!

Nice to be called a youngster - thanks And yes, I do wish I had known the CORs, and the BILs and BELs and HALs and LAVs...

Similarily I remember enjoying the HAPs on the coastway west route in the late 70s & early 80s. Loved those little units. I always prefered them more than anything else. If they were paired up with a CIG or VEP I always made my mum go in the HAP. Then they moved away.

Must say it looks great now in game but the headlamp does take the realism away (my only picky point)

Doesn't look to bad at all and the liveries seem to have been applied nicely, surprised only two liveries been worked on but I suppose they are busy with all there other projects, not even my beloved King class has had any photos yet. Should be nice to pop alongside the 445/8 in SWT which was released recently, I hope with the CIG we'll see some more scenarios for Portsmouth.

I'll also like to say that I think its quite nice of RS.com to cover the EMUs quite quickly instead of being a very long time later, it should garner abit more attention and interesting in the route beyond when it was released.

Cool, I hope it's okay then to make the following observations...

(I understand that these are probably WIP shots, so may not represent the finished item.)

My initial thoughts are it's looking good but maybe the bodyshape is a little to rounded, something's not quite right about it. I appreciate it's a hard prototype to model, it's not a criticism of the work that has gone into it. (The cab windows also need to follow the body profile.)

I don't recall ever seeing a unit with yellow painted axle covers, I think they would be better in black.

The liveries look nice, however I'm not convinced by the yellow used on the ends, maybe it's just the lighting. Also, there are no 1st class markings shown on either livery.

The blue/grey livery is great but would not originally had the top of the ends painted in black (shame there are no orange curtains too).

NSE is also missing branding, but I suspect that is to come.

I hope that a BIG unit will be released too, so we can have the correct 12 car formation.
