hy, i was redirected to this topic by a member and i gotta say thanks because i have the same problem like the guy who started the topic...the image quality is the same like in his pics. can you guys give me some tips regarding how to fix the problem, i saw some tips but sadly i don't have any idea where the graphic card control panel is.
these are my specs : intel core duo 3.0GHz, 2gb ram, geforce 9600gt, windows 7 x32, monitor resolution 1280x1024 (should i change the game resolution for better quality?)
everything setting in the game is at high/very high
thanks

I played round with the setting in the Nvidia Control Panel, set Antistropic Flitering to 8x and Anti-Aliasing to 8x and let it override the setting in Railworks so I can set the in game Anti-Aliasing settings and the home screen to 0.
I noticed a massive improvement once I done that

Re: It just doesn't look right anymore!
i managed to find the nvidia control panel and changed the followings :
Anisotropic: 16x
Antialiasing Gamma Correction: ON
Antialiasing Mode: Override any application setting
Antialiasing Setting: 16Q
Antialiasing Transparency: OFF
and that's about out...still the game is nowhere close to this pics

Not quite sure of my ground here, but I believe the problem might be that Aero themes - with the transparent stuff going on - are competing with RailWorks for resources, which is probably upsetting both. However I'd suggest not disabling DWM that way, as the process does have other functions than using fancy graphics.nobkins wrote:Sure no problem.

- Right click the computer icon on your start menu and select "manager"
- Expand the "Services and Applications" section by clicking the + sign
- Select the "Services" option
- In the list search and find "Desktop Window Manager Session Manager" and double click it
- Stop the service by clicking the "Stop" button
- Change the "Startup Type" to "disabled"
Someone mentioned the "disable visual themes" option. Sadly, for me, it doesn't work. [Find it on the Properties window of the RailWorks executables, e.g. RailWorksProc2.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility tab -> Disable visual themes.]
The simplest way to disable Aero is to Right-click the desktop (not an icon), click "Personalize", then in the Personalization Control Panel that appears scroll down to find the "Basic and High Contrast themes" section and select "Windows Basic". This manually does what the "disable visual themes" action should do.
When you want to restore things to full Aero, select what is probably called "Unsaved Theme" in the "My Themes" section.

Re: It just doesn't look right anymore!
Just to add to the ball of confusion that this thread seems rapidly to be turning into... I run an older Nvidia-based setup on XP which, as I've stated in the past would not "take" the nvcpl settings for RW even after defining a custom profile for it and this resulted in my having to 'force' the settings using the 3rd party tool nHancer.
This worked fine for me (and a number of other UKTS members) and we were all happy little bunnies.
Somewhere along the way, something's changed; nHancer no longer makes a difference, however, RW starts with good image quality courtesy of 16x AF and 8x AA (multisampling). "Huzzah!" you would expect me to exclaim; well, no. Whilst it starts ok, pretty much as soon as I open the 2D map view (9 key), antialiasing disappears. Weird.
Hey ho.
