Just wanted to publicaly thank David for the recent upgrade to the Amfleets he released. It is very apparent he has learned some new techniques because these are very payware quality models now which which makes them even more appreciated they he spent his free time giving these away. Not that I wasn't appreciative of the first release of course. Just a nice pleasant surprise to see he spent the extra time to upgrade a set of already released freeware models for the community.

Back to the quality difference. These things could cook ants when the sun bounces off of them at the right angle. The more fine details really complete the package. If the first release was a "representation" of the Amfleets, these upgraded ones are a the real deal.

By the way, if anyone's having problems with the passengers not showing I forgot to mention in the README that Kuju/Railsimulator assets need to be ticked as well as Kuju/RailsimulatorUS.

They do look very good indeed, worth the DL if you're at all interested in the US.

Totally agree with Bill on these. Something new and exciting is the fact that they self populate at stations. One question is can they empty passengers aswell. Thanks Dave

I have been thinking for a while that emptying passengers is something that should be left for RS.com to implement properly. For use with various freight types there is already an unload command (Shift-T) which at some point would ideally be applied to passengers for use at the final station of a service, with a different instruction shown for unloading passengers only when the service terminates. Passenger coaches could then be modified to show different loaded/empty states like many of the freight wagons already do.

Just downloaded these recently and gave them a whirl tonight. I didn't have the previous Amfleets to compare to, but however these have been built gives a beautiful shine and reflection to them. The presence of these Amfleets prompted me to give the accompanying F40PH a try, and that's a great addition too. As a combination, it's an excellent driving experience. The well-scripted controls contribute a lot to the feeling of realism.

It's got me looking for other Amtrak stuff now - a Genesis would be neat, as would a route with a few more passenger stops than Barstow / San Bernadino!!

Well I'll have Phase I and Phase IVb repaints out in a few days (or sooner). Been fighting some sickness the past day or so or they'd be done and uploaded by now.

You may want to try the CSX Mainline route available from RailWorks America, about two thirds of the way down the page. Not being a huge US rail enthusiast I have no idea how suitable the F40PH/Amfleet combo is to that area, but it's at least a nice route with a few more passenger stops.

In the later years, at least, of the F40PH's operation (ie mid-to-late 90s) the F40+Amfleet combination would be most common in southern California (the area now used by the Surfliners), and on the Washington D.C - Newport line in the Northeast (the former RF&P). I think the CSX Mainline route would mostly see MARC commuter trains, combined with Amtrak long-distance services (I think this is the route used by the only train in the Northeastern US to feature Superliners - the Washington D.C. to Chicago 'Capitol Limited').
