Each time I load a dds file for editing in PSP8 (using RW_Tools to do the TGPCDX conversion) the image is inaccessible for any editing due to the 'checkerboard'. I understand that this is a transparency screen (or something). Is there anyway to get rid of it to access the image and get painting or is this a problem unique to PSP?
Thanks

Re: Repainting using Paint Shop Pro
Having converted the file with RW Tools I then open it up with a free programme called DXTBmp and then transfer the file from that programme (and back again) for editing in PSP. Might be a long-winded approach but it works well for me.

Hi, I use PSP7 and 8 via RW Tools without any problem - what is the "checkerboard" you refer to?

It's a layer over the top isn't it, this can just be reduced I think, someone will hopefully reply with instructions.

If it is just a layer, and is "visible", then opening the layer tool and either deleting the checkerboard or reducing to totally opaque should solve the problem. If not deleting it, you will have to select the base layer where the image is or right click on the layers on the layer tool and "merge all". Make certain you only merge with the base textures visible - i.e. on top or with the checkerboard invisible.

Thanks for the replies.
I have no idea why or how, but when the TgPcDx image is loaded via DXTBitmap and sent to the editor (PSP8) there is no 'checkerboard' and yet when decompiled in RW Tools and then sent to the editor the 'checkerboard' is there. It appears as one layer (the image and the checkeerboard) and I can't separate the two.
So the method appears to be a fudge of using RW Tools to set up the system to get the dds file back into TgPcDx format and DXTBmp to open the original file and send to the editor.
