Does anyone use free roam?

For what it's worth, the Steam store page for Edinburgh-Glasgow advertises (exact copy here) "6 scenarios plus 4 free-roams." The Class 31 page says "5 scenarios, including 2 free roam and 3 Career System scenarios."

I'm fine with all scenarios being described as scenarios whether they are of the free roam, standard or career variety. With the exception of career scenarios which have their own purpose they are really just bonuses thrown in for free as an example of how the purchased content could be used when you create your own.
