If you want to eliminate stuttering, this is your answer. :D

It fits into a PCIe slot on your PC and has some impressive specs including 800MB/sec read speed, 600MB/sec write speed, and 100,000 IOPS (input/output per second) per PCIe x4 card. Only costs $2,400 USD for 80GB and just $19,000 for the 640GB version. But prices will come down in the future.

It still has to be connected to the motherboard somehow, either by USB or using my laptop as an example by PCI-e.

In my opinion Carendo general aviation planes for X-Plane are actually better then what I've bought from them for FS2004 and FSX.

There are some really good jets out there to -

I think it's PCIe, but I cannot seem to find the specs on its speed.

Just had a look at those airliners, intriguing. The 737-300 has a reasonable flight deck, but the FMC looks simplified. Also seen posts about the overhead not being clickable in 3d view etc. What's the default scenery like in the current X-Plane? Does it have autogenerated scenery and airport buildings etc?

If you look in side the PC tower you can take a look at how it's connected to the motherboard.

Yes it has it's own version of auto-gen and airport buildings but just like with MSFS, out of the box (default) scenery leaves much to be desired.

X-Plane 10 is supposedly going to improve substantially as far as scenery is concerned.

If you page through some of the info in the X-Plane 10 blog you should see some screens -

There is no tower, it's an all-in-one unit and slightly more complicated to get to the main board. Looking at the service manual, it isn't clear how the card slot is connected, although it is a 7-in-1 reader.

Although I miss shuttle re-entrys and a realistic glider tow and moving aircraft carriers in X-Plane, I will be sticking with Flight Simulator for the forseeable future. The screenshots haven't done much for me to be honest.

Going back on topic, I haven't been able to put RW down and have put many more hours into it. I've been using the Hagen - Siegen route a lot recently, mainly because it runs smoother than other routes.

I've noticed a few issues on the BR143. On the HUD, it has a dynamic brake lever, but the train doesn't actually have one. It doesn't do anything, except a light appears under the speedo. Also has a lever to open passenger doors but this too does nothing (is it meant to?). The train brakes don't release fully too and they drag. I know this particular train wasn't made RSC.

The other thing that applies to other trains is the accelerometer gauge. Initially it seems to work, going into the negative when braking, or the other way when accelerating, but when accelerating it doesn't drop as the train starts reaching constant speed. The gauge can't be used to maintain a correct speed, and to keep it at e.g. 100km/h the meter is still showing high acceleration value. I think in MSTS it worked perfectly but it's been years since I last used it!

Hmm, after less than a month it seems I'm done with RailWorks 2 for a while. Even MSTS gave me longer period of enjoyment back in the day. :(

Until the core update comes, I might as well uninstall it and get the half-dozen gigs of disk space back, even though I don't need it. I'm having way too much fun with World of Subways, and OpenBVE, and also going to use TRS2004 again. All those run very well at maximum settings on my somewhat new PC, without the constant stutering and loading times of RW. No point driving my favourite train on a depiction of my local line because it is almost completely inaccurate!

What's that they say about a fool and his money? I saw the Youtube vids years ago, and posted on this very forum that I didn't like how RW appeared and still went ahead and got it! :(
