Re: IOW Network V4
Hi All
Iv'e just got back from a tour, so i can now figure out whats gone wrong?,
Firstly the track has been sorted regarding the pathing problems, next:~ regarding the comment about fencing? there is no fencing on the freshwater line due to upgrading, including the landscaping, and the other fencing on the network will be replaced by post & rail as we upgrade.
We at the IOW Team appreciate your efforts to remedy the fault, so let me say "thank you"

Re: IOW Network V4
Anybody noticed the static '02's in the shed at Ryde St.Johns in the Ventnor-Ryde Pier Head scenario? Could this be the start of something much needed?
As long as I gaze on Waterloo sunset I am in paradise

Hi
Sorry Jimmychoo, it is one of Jeff's that he brought over from MSTS, it has no programing to make it move, so if anyone out there wants to try to bring it to life be my guest, i will ask Jeff for his permission, i'm sure Jeff would like it to work.

Re: IOW Network V4
Hi Ian
I also get a pathing problem from Blackwater to ' Merstone to Ventnor West' platform where I can't get to that platform directly. If you can update the V4.0 for these pathing problems it would open up a lot more routes for Standard Scenarios.
Thanks to all the team for an excellent route. Look forward to future updates.
Norman
Are you saying that the pathing problems that I reported yesterday in this thread have already been fixed ? If so are you updating the V 4.0 at UKTS.0931330 wrote:Hi All

Hi Norman
I have sent an Email with the track patch, so you can tell me if it works on your copy of the route.

Timetables for IOW Network V4
September 1950 timetables for the Isle of Wight are available from here:
http://www.timetableworld.com/book_viewer.php?id=6
You need Tables 67 and 68 for the IOW.
Colin
ps: The bike leaning against the ticket office at Brading is definitely too new for the era of the line - I can't think of any bicycles with a sloping top-tube until many years later. It ruins the whole Network.

Thanks for the timetables, Justin will be happy with them for his scenarios,
As for the bike, there no other's to replace it with, so i you want to make one, i will be happy to include it in the route for you.

OK - I will do that, it should be ready for IOW Network V27.0931330 wrote:

It has taken me a couple of years to work out how to make a scenario for Railworks - it wasn't until I followed Marleyman's Tutorials that I got to understand them. (That is what led me to the timetables).
Unless I can make a bike in FSDS and convert it, it will take a few more years to get to grips with modelling for RW2.
Incidentally, for scenario makers, a handy little plan of the Network can be found here: http://www.invectis.co.uk/iow/railmap.htm
Keep up the great work,
Colin

Re: IOW Network V4
Evening all,
Many thanks for the timetables links, I will look at these in due course. Right now I am just spending some family time, as my youngest daughter has just had an operation on her kidney, so I won't be doing anything this week.
Glad so many like the route though, and I be in touch very soon.

Re: IOW Network V4
All the best for your daughter Justin - I hope everything goes fine. Some things are just more important than a game aren't they.
Also, most of the lines on the Island were closed for over 50 years before they were re-opened on Railworks, and I never got the chance to travel on the Ventnor West to Merstone line or Newport to Freshwater. At least I can roam everywhere and start making scenarios myself. Nobody should expect you to do it all and it is bound to take time to get a full timetable running again on all lines, so have a family break and get your daughter well again.

How can a simple bike ruin so much hard work - the ROUTE is fantastic and very enjoyable -- forget the bike you should be looking at your signals !!!!!
.
A fantastic route even if there is a wrong BIKE

Re: IOW Network V4
Hi Ian and the IOW team
Once again a significant improvement in appearance to an already excellent route. Thanks to you all.
However the additional scenery and the new tracktype is giving me a large reduction in frame rate. For me this is particlarly noticable where the new tracktype has been used.
It would be interesting to know if anyone else is getting this reduction in frame rate.
Previously with IOW Network version 3.3 I have been running with a frame rate of 40+ but am now seeing as low as 15 fps between Carisbrooke and Newport where the new tracktype has been used.
Some of that I am sure is down to enhanced scenery but I have tried running a train on the same section of open countyside between Havenstreet and Ashey in both IOW version 3.3 and the latest version ( the scenery here is virtually unchanged between the two versions ). I am getting an fps of 83 fps with version 3.3 and only 50 with the latest version. I believe that this discrepancy is due to the new tracktype now present in this region
Through Newport I am now getting between 15 and 25 fps with the latest version, mostly below 20.
To eliminate the effect of all scenery I have constructed two simple routes with just several lengths of straight track - no scenery.
With the old IOW track I get an fps of 230 . With the new bullhead track I am getting an fps of 120. Terrier Newport loco used in both these simple routes.
An additional problem for me is the very shiny appearence at distance of this new tracktype.
Look at the track at Newport from a cab. Attached are screenshots taken from within a type 47 cab for both versions
[album%20118453%205.0%20Newport.jpg]
[img][album%20118453%205.0%20Newport.jpg][/img]
(If the pictures do not display will someone tell me what I have done wrong. Thanks )
I run a fairly fast computer and am surprised at the low frame rates I am getting
Is anyone else getting these problems with the latest version ?
If the low frame rate continues when all the track has been converted to the new [/img]type then due to the stuttering I will be reluctant to play this route however excellent the overall appearance is.
