earlier today i went to load up a route im currently working on, only to get the dreaded something bad has happened message while the route was loading iv already verified the files which hasn't worked is there anything else i can do
If all other routes work OK then I would guess that that there is something wrong with the scenario folder for your route, perhaps a 0 byte file has appeared. Try deleting the basic free roam scenario and then start up the route again. RailWorks should create a new basic free roam scenario and get rid of any anomalies in the old one. You could use RW Tools to test the route and that should indicate if there are any problem files and where.
Don't forget the importance of clearing the blueprint cache regularly as this might solve the problem on its own.
It is a bit of a mystery as to why these odd occasions of SBHH occur but I can get this sort of problem if I try to do something in RW that is too fast for the program to follow. Try and work at a steady pace and let the computer complete what it is doing before moving on.

i tried deleting the free roam i have for the route im still getting the same problem, i ran the route through RW tools which told me that nothing was wrong so why my day old route is doing this is a bit of a mystery

Railworks should do that automatically when you run the route again.
When you get the message that something bad has happened, there should be a message in the same box that might refer to a scenario or perhaps it mentions line 113.
