You’ll also want to consider image quality.

I’m running both an ATI 5870 and an Nvidia GTX 580 and when it comes to older game engines that use a lot of transparency textures (RailWorks) the image quality/performance is better with Nvidia.

The newest drivers from AMD/ATI for the 5000/6000 series cards (11.1a) feature new image quality options that I’m taking a look at but how they will improve (if at all) image quality with RailWorks remains to be seen.
