I remember 25s, but then I remember more 31s; that was Devon rather than Cornwall though. Shed allocation should be enough, no? I'm sure there's a few around.andygale wrote:Another must buy..
I once read that class 25s replaced the small Western region Hydraulics, was this the case? (I've not seen any photographs) does anyone know where I can find more info?

The little 1100hp Class 22's weren't around long lasting less than 10 years. They were all cut up in the late 60's early 70's.
The 25's arrived in the early 70's, the 37's late 70's. The Warships and Westerns took the trains on to the mainlnes and they were replaced by 47's and occasionally 45's and 46's. In the early 80's Laira had half of the 46 fleet (Gateshead the other)
I can thoroughly recommend a book by John Vaughan "An Illustrated History of China Clay Trains" published around 1987 but copies turn up on a well known auctions site occasionally
This is all from memory so may not be totally acurate.
Hope that's a help,
Kernow2

Yeah, that's a bit late for this route, this one is more like it.

If that version isn't somewhere, I'll do it, it's not difficult :p
Lots of 46s around Exeter in the 70s-80s, but usually for Northeast-Paignton trips iirc. I wonder if there's a 25/3 coming.
