My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

most do if it works or not is another question.....

Divert more power from the Dilithium Crystals to the Warp engines cap!

Re: Wheel slip
They also have slow speed control, but I don't think either are modelled in this versionKariban wrote:Uh, don't they have anti-slip control?firetrap1 wrote:Doesn't the JT class 60 model this? I can get wheel slip every time I max the throttle from standstill.

Re: Wheel slip
A question; has anyone experienced wheel slip/slide during braking?
Re: Wheel slip
I defintely have, especially with american locos like the sd70ace and using dynamic braking.
Re: Wheel slip
Aye, Happens all the time, I can also get wheelslide while wheelslipping
Still think Rs.com should seperate wheelslip and wheel locking, so then the physics and animations actually work

in Railworks no in real life yes (it can be rather annoying and can hurt your ears...A question; has anyone experienced wheel slip/slide during braking?

Re: Wheel slip
Yes; particularly prone to happen on some steam locos (Jubilee springs to mind) and the only way to retrieve the situation is to completey release the brakes; notespecially helpful when you're trying to stop!Ooveecouk wrote:A question; has anyone experienced wheel slip/slide during braking?
Re: Wheel slip

Re: Wheel slip
Hmm interesting, I've never experienced it.
Re: Wheel slip
It was at bridgewater , B - E , and was bad snow as the weather ? i couldnt get anywhere
Re: Wheel slip
You think wheelslip when braking is bad in RW, you try braking a FGW HST from 100 odd mph to 0 in about 1.5 signals worth of distance. You feel brake pressure then!
No wheelslip on those though, the anti WS system works perfectly. I've had wheelslip braking on a 57/6, but we did give it maximum brake force running tests to be fair, with a heavy load on behind.

Re: Wheel slip
The Class 59s in real life (and subsequent GM diesels) utilised some of the physics of wheel slip to their advantage. The documentation I have in front of me backs up what I learnt as a mechanical engineer. Even when wheels start to slip the tractive effort can still increase provided the slippage is controlled. That is the essence of the GM wheel creep system.
I had some very minor input into research at a university contracted to my employer that explored frictional forces between rotating wheels and stationary rails. The amount of tractive effort rises even when the wheels start to slip but then suddenly and very dramatically falls away - so fast that my data acquisition kit lost the signal completely resulting in a major rewrite of the code.
How this actually translates into driving trains in real life or on a simulator escapes me but the physics and dynamics are very interesting to engineers and mathematicians.

Re: Wheel slip
wheel slip can be annoying at the best of times i was driving a class 37 pulling around 12 wagons full of spoil the other day i had to stop at a red which was about a third of the way up a bank when i got the all clear i had to give the poor loco full power just to start the train, but of course as soon as the loco starts to move the wheels begin to slip like mad so i had to take the power off to stop the wheels spinning and bearing in mind the fact that the loco is only crawling, the train grinds to a halt again
i was sat there for five minutes trying to get away from that signal
(almost called for some help
