If it's long enough to contain an extra couple of full-length trains (about 250m, to fit 10 passenger carriages, a BG and a steam loco), and has enough signalling to separate them into unique sections, that'll be fine. The western end might want the same treatment, but it already has a fair length that the player doesn't easily see, so it's less critical. The idea is to allow some mainline traffic to pass while doing extended shunting in the yard, or at both the beginning and end of a back-and-forth trip.
An incidental thing I noticed is that the viaduct east of Truro is in line-of-sight from Newham, but due to the LOD setting it is only visible from a little closer than that. I don't know whether that little quirk can be fixed using only the route files...
