Agreed vern, I feel ripped off big time. This is a scenario where the most loyal customers get shafted whilst the part time brigade cash in on heavy discounts. I've spent a small fortune buying nearly every single addon there is so there is nothing for me to buy in the sale. I feel might annoyed about the 31 and Falmouth, that's a terrible stunt to pull

Well for starters, all of their stuff is at discount at the moment! No point in getting vexed over sales that have been missed - that's life.

Anyone over a certain age should realise that things will be at their most expensive when first released, after which the price will fall - nothing new there...

Agreed, but that's usually after the item has been on sale for a few months, not three days..!

Brilliant sale - just purchased :MJA wagons/Class 390/Class 31/Class 170/Up the junction/Green & gold HST/Black 5 scenario pack all for just over 28 quid! It pays to resist temptation sometimes.By the way,the Falmouth Branch has been £9.99 since release, so it's always been 50% off.

Couldn't agree more, just had a quick spend and got the Class 170 / Class 101 / Pendolino / NSE Class 47 / Doncaster Works / TEA's and last but no means least the Class 31. Looks like I will have to wait until tomorrow to give them a go as Stem appears to be unresponsive. See what Santa brings as I may still get GARL!. Wonder if IHH will follow suit as I have couple of Sly's products which I fancy.

Those of us who benefit from the sale aren't just the part time brigade. I buy most steam locos at launch but only early diesels and electrics. When a sale is launched I then buy later diesels and electrics, so it's good marketing by RS.com. I have now bought the class 31, which I didn't originally, but snapped it up at half price. By now I have a vast collection of locos.

Those who have purchased items at the full price did get their reward - extra time with the new item/s without having to wait until they got discounted. It's not like Steam sold those items to you at full price and then made you wait until the day of the 50% off sale before delivering them.

Most people here have been around Steam long enough to know that
a) sales happen unannounced
b) all products eventually get some kind of discount

All true but in the case of the Class 31 I agree with Vern and Jimmy. You do not launch a new loco, make people wait for it even longer because the launch is delayed and than make it half price a few days later. I feel RS should do something for these early class 31 buyers. Falmouth Branch was launched at half price (I got it :D ); the class 31 should have had the same 50% discount from the start.

On the other hand, I have not been able to benefit from this sale at all, probably because I 'reside' in Germany; possibly the old story about this being Aerosoft's 'territory', although it is not mentioned by RS or Steam anywhere. So I have been unable to complete any sale purchase so far. :(

extra time with the new item/s
As I said, three days...

BTW under UK consumer law, doesn't an item have to be sold at the original price for so long (a month?) before it can be discounted, assuming that applies to on-line items and whether Steam are trading offshore or from the UK.

Not being argumentative here, I accept it's happened but it's something RSC perhaps need to take on board for the future.

I'm currently enjoying my new Class 45 and Mark Ones (Heartbeat Moor scenario coming if it tests okay) and I may yet go back in and buy the Class 56!
