Mate, your analogies are failing tonight.
A car problem could possibly deemed a situation where you may not get to work and get sacked. The Class 31 addon is not.

It is annoying when something is announced to be released and it doesn't turn up but it's all part of life. It'll come out either way and just think of it, if it isn't out tonight, we've got something to look forward to tomorrow!

Re: Class 31 anticipation thread!!
Mate some of us have made plans around the announced release date. It's been set in stone as the 15th for weeks now, it has been heralded on the official RS.com website, Facebook and Twitter numerous times. It's now gone 10 o'clock at night and it's still not here. It's no good it turning up at 23:59, it might as well not turn up at all because I'll be in bed asleep!!almark wrote:USRailFan wrote:It clearly says "December 15th" - no caveats whatsoever given about US time or whatever. With RS.com being a UK-based outfit, it is natural for people who see the announcement to think UK time. As has been mentioned before, it'd be a lot wiser of RS.com either to give the release date as the day after, or (probably the best thing) to never give an exact date for release, but rather to announce the product as released when it can be 100% verified that it is available on the Steam store.malkymackay wrote:The release time will be due to the fact that Valve are based in the West of America, so they operate about 8 hours behind GMT.
It is still December 15th isn't it? and if it wasnt, what difference does it make. Not like you have paid to preorder it nor have you had to walk to the shop to be told its not coming out.
Nobody is going to die because it's not been released but I'm mighty hacked off!! Broken pledges are guaranteed to get peoples backs up no matter how trivial the matter may be.

Not relevant really, but whether he sees the 31 tonight or not, Jimmy will get to work just fine.USRailFan wrote:http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 5#p1368528Darpor wrote:Mate, your analogies are failing tonight.

Re: Class 31 anticipation thread!!
Tomorrow is no good for me, I'm at work all day and up to my eyeballs in Mrs and kids all evening!! T'was a one shot deal for me, I've kept my spirits up all evening thinking "any minute now" but total sense of humour meltdown is now in force!Esurient wrote:It is annoying when something is announced to be released and it doesn't turn up but it's all part of life. Even if it gets released now the best I can get is a quick 5 min demo before I have to rack out for the night and the most I can hope for tomorrow is another 5 min slot if I'm lucky. Opportunity wasted for me. Bah! Rant! Booooo!

Then would it not make sense, in future to make plans to play RS with new stock a couple of days later than planned? Like catching a train to the airport, you don't get to the station at 8.51 to catch the 8.52 train... You get there atleast 15 minutes earlier... Except in RS case, you do things the other way around, plan things a bit later than release dates.jimmyshand wrote:

Personally, I think RS should stop announcing dates for releases and say "Coming sometime this week" instead. No rants, no daily expectations, it just comes out when it's out!

Re: Class 31 anticipation thread!!
I think this a fair point actually. If a DVD is scheduled for release on 20th December, you'd quite reasonably expect to be able to go into HMV or wherever at 9 in the morning and buy it, not have to wait until 5 in the afternoon.USRailFan wrote:It clearly says "December 15th" - no caveats whatsoever given about US time or whatever. I do understand that RSC are trying to please people by giving release dates for DLC, but giving a release date of the following day, or in the week commencing, might mean people are happy that they've got something "early" rather than complain about it being "late"

Problem is, that stirs up another debate.Esurient wrote: Personally, I think RS should stop announcing dates for releases and say "Coming sometime this week" instead. No rants, no daily expectations, it just comes out when it's out!
Not so long back, there were posts condeming if that very thing happened, that people would have no time to plan or get funds in place. It's back to the "no win" situation again.
I would overhaul all due dates for all publishers. A quite simple "It comes when it comes" date would do for me.

Very true mate. 15th December is pretty much a definitive statment to me. Like you say if a vendor advertises a new product for sale on a particular day then it is reasonable to presume that it will actually be available on that day!! and quite rightly so I think if you were still hanging around HMV at 22:38 at night for the DVD said to be on sale that day then you'd be forgiven for and indeed expected to be a little 'touchy' perhaps!FoggyMorning wrote:I think this a fair point actually. Re: Class 31 anticipation thread!!
True, i guess. People just need to learn to compromise or be patient. I'm sure if they were presented with the challenge of creating rolling stock or routes, a lot of people would then just about appreciate how much time and effort it takes to organise and create these items. "It comes when it comes" date would be good for me too but it is nice to have it narrowed down a little bit!Darpor wrote:Problem is, that stirs up another debate.Esurient wrote: Personally, I think RS should stop announcing dates for releases and say "Coming sometime this week" instead. Not sure, but I thought this was extremely funny.RichyV wrote:Oh dear. Please tell me this is all a joke, right?
It is not the end of the world if the prettiest girl in the neighbourhood stands you up on a date either. But when it happens two to three times in a row, a lot of people would start to go looking elsewhere.
Cheers
Bob
P.S. USRailFan - how do you get to set dates up with the three prettiest girls in town to begin with?
