I have just bought the 9F payware add on and I say to anyone considering it, don't buy it until you have read the following short review, I have put together;

Like many people I am a fan of 9F's and always have been and as a prototype for a pack it's a great choice, not just because 92220s legendary Red Dragon run, and the allocation of many to the western and eastern region but because many worked on the scrapped and dismantled which after is the main steam era route on railworks. On first loading the models look good, 92220 looks the part, albeit with a headboard that is a little too small but that is easily overlooked, the models themselves are good and so are the cabviews but unfortunatley from there on it all goes downhill. First off there is the chuff, it sounds like a black 5, not a 9F, but worse still the AWS doesn't work, after going over several magnets it still didn't sound, rather infuriating, so one goes outside the cab and then realises that the crew are on crack, they are flailing their arms out all over the place, now I have worked on mainline steam locos and this doesn't happen, sure the odd wave but not continual flailing like the crew are composed of inflatable dolls!
But the icing on the cake comes with my next point, after paying good money, £14, you only get 4 activities! it is a bit of a rip off considering you also don't get working AWS, or even correct sounds (apart from the whistle), After having previously bought the Hall pack the 92220 pack is most dissappointing.

P.S. I'm currently working on a sound pack for the 9F as well as other loco's. Check Here for latest progress. Very much work in progress.

But really Sly used to be a freeware modeller and his standard has gone up so he's now charging.

Ahh well you see I'm new to railworks, I was a diehard on msts because of the lack of content on railsim, but as a forum member i thought it best to voice an opinion, good to know you are working on a solution though matt.

I didn't think steam locomotives were usually fitted with AWS gear, except for a few that have had it fitted in preservation to allow mainline running?

As far as sounds go, you'll find it 6 to 1 and half a dozen to the other; personally I can't fault them

Scenarios likewise, though 4 is a fairly average number for most locomotive add ons; some come with more, a few with less

92220 has it from mainline running, but it would have had ATC which is a form of AWS from new as it was a western region loco for all of it's working life.

This isn't a review. This is one persons opinion and personal gripes.

which is as you can see above what I have done with the aformentioned product, also as you may notice the good points and the bad points are both mentioned and I have no idea who made this product, so it can't possibly be 'personal'.

I have the 9F and think it is a great model considering it was one of his first, to be honest I am not picky over minor details though.

The sounds seem okay to me and the model seems to capture the presence of the prototype.
