Take aside the impossibilities for joining the routes, you then have the problem of trying to run a high detailed route of 200 miles or more if they are all joined. We have all seen how a high detail and high distance route can be compromised for some on system resources.

There is no harm in it all being in sections though. You can use the dwell time in timetables to do a 2,3 or even 4 part scenario, loading up the new route at the end of each section in reference to the real timetable.

Don't be a mug! Spend the money on an equally capable non-sucker-brand machine for a shed-load less money...

If you download my Western Rails (TM) then you already have Gloucester to Didcot. For a large fee donatable to a small holding I have in the seychelles, I might be convinced to extend to Hereford in about, ooh, 2 or 3 years. :) Or when I managed to stop playing the Falmouth Branch.

I suspect thats not QUITE the route you had in mind. But it would perhaps be rather more interesting. Halls on whats little more than a very long branch line?

I think that, along with the MSWJR and the Kingham Branch are the 3 holy grails of never done routes in trainsims.

How's this for a cheeky request, how about extending the default Paddington to Oxford route as far as Banbury?

Look at his location

From an operational point of view it wouldn't add much beyond an extra 25 miles for the XC services

Haha, oh yeah. Looks like we've found the perfect person to build Banbury then...

It just seemed an odd place to want to end a route.

I would have a go myself, but I'd probably make a right dogs dinner of it.

I did have a go at starting a route, but just couldn't get the track down how I wanted it, also had a problem creating points and crossovers. So gave up.

Re Crossovers, try dead straight track (press control when laying). It makes it much more likely you will get a workable slip. Also make sure the relevant button is depressed on the track laying panel, that makes joining up 2 sections of track rather more likely.

And dont give up. I started with a branchline and ended up with over 60 miles of the GWML. If I can do it, anyone can.

Yup, we all gotta start somewhere. Admittedly, there are perhaps easier places to start than Banbury, but starting with somewhere you know is always a good thing. The learning curve is pretty steep, but once you've got the hang of laying track and setting it up; of placing objects and painting terrain; it's all about how much time and patience you have after that.

And on the original subject of the Cotswolds, I was curious to see how the Malverns looked:
