Re: The Lake Line
I wonder why companies do this have two different products that will compete with each other. I know Apple did the same with the iPad and the smaller MacBook air. Surly one product will take away sales from another product. Anyway Railworks does a good job of simulating steam engines ok the manual could be better and the auto fireman could improve slightly but as far as computers go Railworks does a good job. Unless in this new sim you might be able to play the part of the fireman separately that would be good. Other than that I think my help someone understand steam better though. With a few more tutorials that is. I'm just a little bit upset they got the 101 dmu in their because I paid £14.99 for mine and in this new sim it's five pounds apparently. Never mind it will soon be Christmass.

With an example like this, you aren't taking sales away, you're gaining them. Both are products of Apple, and customers who prefer one or the other will get them, rather than not get one at all if it's not available.ianb1234674 wrote:I wonder why companies do this have two different products that will compete with each other. Re: The Lake Line
If I read it correctly, this product should reach a market that might otherwise not have been interested in the 'complexity' of RailWorks. It is therefore complimentary to RailWorks and not in competition with it.
The price might also suggest that this is effectively a demonstration version of RailWorks to encourage people to buy the full product. It may be that no more stand alone routes like this will follow.

Re: The Lake Line
If it brings a wider audience to the full version then it can only be a good idea, both for the developers and us in the long run. Good one RSC, Paul Jackson has got his business cap on.

Thanks for the reply anyway Dark every time I type Lake line or Train driver on steam it doesn't find anything. It might be delayed unless its not on steam of course.

Re: The Lake Line
Why have lake line when you already have RW's? It is only a stripped out version without editors, pay and play.

Re: The Lake Line
Is this a new game or a addon, because if its an addon then we are lucky as aparrently it's only a fiver and looks like the Jubilee, BR Brown coaches, DMU, Invinsible and some stuff from IOW. Lets hope it is an addon.
Working on WSR scenarios.

It is not, it is a stand-alone product.

Re: The Lake Line
Hi folks,
Just to clarify, we do still intend to release The Lake Line (which is indeed a totally self-contained, standalone product). A number of factors have delayed the release, one of them being the amount of time we have left to complete our RailWorks 2 DLC releases this year, but it will still be released. Our intention is that The Lake Line will be a simpler, lower-priced train sim experience which will satisfy a large number of casual simmers and rail enthusiasts - and if it gets them into trainsims, so much the better!
Cheers
Simon
