RW Oldest but Goodest!
Do you think Oldest RW is Goodest RW!
Do you feel new HUD take too much screen and hinder your sights.
Do you think Old F4 is simple but better.
Do you feel old fonts size is more comfortable to your old eyes.
Do you like just driving than competing.
However, Do you want to have(drive) new locos and new route?
Some new-coming stuffs do not run on old RW!!
Do you think there is solution?
If you really think you so, try my advice.
1. Provide working RW(110.8b version) dirctory.
2. Overwrite Contents and Assets folders from RW2(114.1b) to RW(110.8b)
- This is necessary to run some new stuffs.
3. Optional
If you dont like competing, Jusy edit ScenarioProperties.xml.
And simply find and replace "eCareerScenarioClass" with "eStandardScenarioClass", and delete all *.md5.
That's all. there will be no more competition.
Here, you can run most of new stuff.
But something developed for RW2 carrier mode may fail with "Can not load Tracks.bin" Error.
If this happens, do not worry, just do the step 3.
For whom to love old RW.
Happy driving
Cheers,

Re: RW Oldest but Goodest!
I preferred the original Railworks to Railworks 2. Thanks for the information.
Kind regards James.

Re: RW Oldest but Goodest!
the only thing i don't like about RW2 the that horrible HUD--I HATE IT !
other than that i'm quite happy.

Re: RW Oldest but Goodest!
Why restrict yourself to one version
For me a dual boot (XP 32 bit for my 'starforce' protected games that won't work on 64bit, and Win 7 64) is the best option - Railworks in "offline" mode on XP, means it's best for building routes, editing scenario's etc.. as I can read the font. Railworks 2 on Win7 for when (if) I feel like a career mode / purchase new addons
Railworks 2 new HUD is fine for the most part, however I can't drive the 86 in expert mode with it on (I use the keyboard not the onscreen 'easy' method) as it obstructs the view too much of where the tap changer handle is, also the fact that 50% should be the 'hold' postion whereas it's showing as 60% for hold..
Oh yes, the HUD is useless for all combined throttle / brake locos (apart from the newest 170 DMU) as the release / acceleration point isn't at 0%, some it's -10% and others it's 10%.
The old F3 / F5 text (top left screen) option is much better for the above situations

Re: RW Oldest but Goodest!
I would like to have the option in RW2 to have a less obtrusive F4 monitor - the original was much closer to what I wanted.
An ideal F4 display would have the original style of transparent bar, but with numerical values added to the reverser, and also a text readout on the brake display (which I do find useful, rather than trying to remember what a particular percentage value corresponds to).
Perhaps something like this could be provided as an option. It would certainly offer a more realistic driving experience.
I also preferred having the AWS/TPWS warnings coming up on the screen in the older versions of RW - if I don't want to sit in the cab, now I have to keep F4 open in case I get an AWS buzzer alert.
Well, it would be nice anyway.

Re: RW Oldest but Goodest!
I would like the option of the route-information parts of the new HUD, but at the top of the screen, and without the control parts. Then I could use the more compact F5 information to run the loco in detail.
The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.
Re: RW Oldest but Goodest!
That would suit me down to the ground too.. but I don't see RS.com changing it till RW3!Kromaatikse wrote:I would like the option of the route-information parts of the new HUD, but at the top of the screen, and without the control parts. Re: RW Oldest but Goodest!
Oops!
Sorry, I missed one thing.
Before doing STEP 2,
>>2. Overwrite Contents and Assets folders from RW2(114.1b) to RW(110.8b)<<
Be sure to backup
"Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorCore\InputMappers\Drive Mode.bin"
And after doing STEP2,
Recover original Drive Mode.bin.
This is for Old F4 action.

Re: RW Oldest but Goodest!
Actually it's only the calibration that is out. The 166 Networker Turbo for instance still has the same "notched" throttle positions but you have to calculate from -28% actually being neutralAndyM77 wrote:
