Not too sure it's a good idea to guess at the price, don't forget that this is effectively a whole locomotive add-on, plus a full passenger view and some other features that bring even more realism to RailWorks. More info on those nearer release.

We have wanted to create a 153 with both "small" and "large" cabs ever since Rail Simulator, but unfortunately the game engine doesn't support different cab geometry at separate ends within one "loco". This is something we've asked about a few times over the years and would really like to see implemented, but unless it has changed within recent months and we've not been told about it, then at the moment it simply isn't possible to do in RW2. Having driven our in-development builds quite a lot lately, I really don't feel this distracts in any way from the experience of driving the unit.

Thanks,

Simon

How can you tell which end is the small and which ones the large??? I don't see any visual hints from any 153 pics out there.

Look at where the cab side window is, its very noticeable then.

Original end. (As per other designs of similar class)

Small end. (Very, very narrow)

I had a feeling that separate cabs wouldn't be possible. I don't think it takes too much away; especially as the cab looks excellent from the shots shown so far.

Also a good point was made about the price. Just because it's a single car unit it doesn't mean any less work has been put into it than multiple units. If you want a good deal on the pack though, look out for the discount which JT talked of for pre-orders.

I too have a soft spot for the early second generation DMU's, especially as they slowly are being replaced by Turbostars.

Hang on do you mean the external cab? Because the screenshots clearly show that there are two different cabs on the outside?
But i'm guessing you mean the inside (controls etc..) which in that case doesnt bother me... :P
Small end:

Normal end:

Sorry if thats confusing...

Thanks

I'm not bothered about different cabs. its a shame railworks doesn't allow it, but i'm sure the rest of the model will be just fab anyway. as regards price, i apprecaite its a very detailed and feature packed model. so pleased it has a passenger view, so won't mind spending money on it, however I am a mature student studying for a v useful music degree (not just a stop gap to do a surfing degree lol) so i have to watch my pennies very carefully. so long as its not way above average price i will certainly be happy to buy :)

Class 153 & Totham - Passengers, Power & Freight (Download)

Compatibility: RailWorks 2 - £23.45 / €29.55 / $35.70 - Coming Soon
Class 153 DMU

The Class 153 DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) is a common sight around the UK, picking up and delivering many thousands of passengers every day of the year. Being a self-contained unit with an under-slung diesel engine it has no need for a separate locomotive and is therefore economical in operation.

Featuring unique and exclusive Just Trains developed ActivScript features such as operating destination blinds and operational DRA (Drivers Reminder Appliance) this high quality rendition of the Class 153 DMU is the one to drive!

First introduced in 1991, these distinctive units have a driver's cab at each end to allow the driver to change ends and drive in the opposite direction without the need to turn the unit around. The 153 DMU features gangway door connections that allow persons to walk between the units whilst they are moving when two units are coupled together.

Totham route

Designed specifically for RailWorks 2, Totham is an all-new UK route of around 30 miles in total length, giving you a great range of tasks and a variety of interesting places to visit.

Included with the route are seven custom built scenarios; five of these use the default RailWorks 2 stock, and the other two require add-on stock.

Totham is designed to give you the best of all rail simulation worlds, with halts and stations for intense passenger services and Intermodal container and freight depot marshalling yards for freight operations. If you want heavy haulage, then there are two coal-powered merry-go-round power stations as well as a nuclear power plant on the Axford branch line which requires high security deliveries. A mail depot and car terminal ensure that there is always lots to do!
Both the Class 153 DMU and the Totham route will be available to buy as separate Downloads.

Interesting stuff; can we assume Totham is the "Secret Squirrel" Darren has been working on?

All makes sence now, looks a good route Darren, is it based on anywhere in particular?

It's quite varied Gavin with the idea being that there is something for everyone on there.

Is the control desk the same in each cab? if you kept the bits with animations the same I wonder if you could effectively turn walls/other cab scenery on & off.
My posts are my opinion, and should be read as such.

Hi Darren
Looking good
Am I spotting a few new assets like the catenary gantries/arms, wall and platforms?
For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it ;-)

Yeah, there are some bits and pieces included. It's not laden with new assets as something like Bristol to Exeter but there may be some useful stuff in there. I'd rather concentrate on the fact it's a nice route, not massive but not small by any means. If you like passenger driving, it's useful, some interesting scenery, quite a lot of stations, something there for stoppers or express runs and on the freight side, several yards and many places of interest.
