The warnings for overspeed , wheelslip and AWS are indeed present on the new F4 HUD, and much less obtrusive than they were previously
Just one problem, the F4 HUD is even more obtrusive than the obtrusive warning triangles that went before!!
Kind of like fixing a small crack in a wall with a hand grenade!!
I can see the smart design of the HUD, I can see how it cleverly depicts all the relevant information that you might need but it's about as realistic as sticking a Fisher Price steering wheel complete with squeaky horn onto the control panel of a 747!
The draw of a simulator for me is that it looks and feels like you are operating the real thing, with Noddys toy wheel taking up a third of the screen this feeling is somewhat ruined, thank RSC that it can be switched off!!

On the WCML route Scots Pines Career scenario the speed limit doesn't show
http://users.actrix.co.nz/trevw//Pines.jpg
55 mph speed limit shown at 0.7 miles
http://users.actrix.co.nz/trevw//Pines1.jpg
Not shown 0.4 miles to go in new HUD.

Imo it isn't as bad as I envisaged it to be, but it is distracting to the point of not looking out the blinking window at the mo!

In fact the they do appear several feet above in mid air! This is with the cache being cleared as well????? very strange.
I happened to play Polmadie Hop earlier - another scenario with a recognised bug that hasn't been fixed! - and noticed the red lights on the level crossing appearing several feet in the air so it's not just you. Since I freshly reinstalled RailWorks earlier today, no amount of verifying your cache is gonna fix this puppy

Hi All,
I think that I have the worst bug you can get,NO RAILWORKS,Monday afternoon I was happly running Railwoks,
come Monday late evening I downloaded RAILWORKS 2,now I have no simulator to run,the STEAM DOWNLOAD went wery well with no problems,
verified it and done all things that I should including the cache, went down to start looking at the nice HST after a few moments up comes the box with ERROR NOT SERIALIZED FILE
FILE/API/CORE/cF x EXCEPTIONh LINE 133,an e-mail has been sent to Steam,I have spent a lot of monney to Steam for routes and stock,so my oppinion of this upgrade is not very good,
I^m thinking of giving up on it,two days trying to get it to work and have had enough, sent two posts to anouther thread asking for help, had two replies which didnot help, there were
a lot of members on line but did not offer to help me to try and sort the problem out, thats why I^M GIVING UP.

I would say that not being able to hear the AWS from a head-out position (as opposed to a chase camera) is a bug, especially since many of the steam locos are not driveable from inside due to the complete lack of forward visibility. The icons were a semi-acceptable workaround for that which have now gone.

Yep. I had the same problem since the update.
But I figured it out and found a fix for it.
You can see the details I posted about it over on the Steam-forums:

I figured out the cause of this oddity of the distances to upcoming speed-limit does not always show on the new HUD, but still displays on the old HUD.
Working on my new WIP route, I found the same problem of distance to upcoming speed-limit changes not displaying in new HUD. Trying a different route, the distance would show... Hmmm, this is odd I though, but what's different that would cause that.
So I figured out that because I haven't yet gotten around to placing all of the speed-limit-signs on my new WIP route yet on sections where the speed-zone changes was the cause of it not showing in the new HUD. The old HUD seems to take distance to upcoming speed-limit from the track itself, whereas the new HUD looks for a speed-limit-sign. So, in your case chances are that a speed-limit-sign was not placed on that particular section of track - which for WCML being such a large route, and being into route-building myself, I can understand how that mistake could sneak in there.
Cheers.

Not sure about this particular speed limit, but I had a speed limit not show up on Oxford-Paddington, a 25mph limit approaching Didcot from Oxford, and there is definitely a sign there - can get a screen shot tonight if you like - so I think there is a bug in the HUD somewhere.
Edit: actually someone already has a screenshot showing the bug buried in the monster RW2 thread:
malixx wrote:Hi all, I have one problem with RW2.
On picture you can see, on new "window/menu" don't exist the Speed Limit, which Speed Limit Sign is front of train and showing "20" km/h, only I see the Signals in menu. But, if I place New Speed Limit Sign, then show up in window only that sign which I place it on the track. That is only in my route. So, what is that, something with update?

Your right. It could very well be some bug with the new HUD then in that case. But I did discover that once I did place a speed-limit-sign on the track in my route where the speed-zone changes, that indeed it does display on the new HUD, whereas before no sign = no distance-to-speed-change displayed.
It could also be that the anchor for those particular signs were not placed properly and thus not showing on the new HUD? Or it could be something buggy with those particular signs being used? Not sure.

I think what they've done is give the default speed-limit signs special properties and attached them to the track. If you've just made a 3D object that looks like a speed-limit sign, RailWorks can't tell it from a hole in the ground.
I would have preferred it if they kept it looking at the track properties rather than relying on signage, especially as the signs are sometimes missing even on the default routes.

Hi all i just found out that on the signals when you click on them to get the right hand window out, in railworks you can click and set things on them now in railworks 2 this has been disabled.
