Finally cracked it, and it was so easy.

Find the engine_blueprint.bin files in the three engine folders of the 9F. Convert them to xml with the serz.exe program (drag and drop). Replace the fireman sector with the one from the 7MT like so:

in the 9F xml:

<BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">Scenery\Characters\9F_Fireman_Steam.xml</BlueprintID>
</iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
</BlueprintID>
<Matrix>
<cHcRMatrix4x4>
<Element>
<e d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="00000080170BE83F" d:precision="string">0.7514</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="0000000000000000" d:precision="string">0.0000</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="000000A0E61DE5BF" d:precision="string">-0.6599</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="0000000000000000" d:precision="string">0.0000</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="0000000000000000" d:precision="string">0.0000</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="000000000000F03F" d:precision="string">1.0000</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="0000000000000000" d:precision="string">0.0000</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="0000000000000000" d:precision="string">0.0000</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="000000A0E61DE53F" d:precision="string">0.6599</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="0000000000000000" d:precision="string">0.0000</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="00000080170BE83F" d:precision="string">0.7514</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="0000000000000000" d:precision="string">0.0000</e>

<e d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="00000000F03A16C0" d:precision="string">-5.5576</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="000000000000F03F" d:precision="string">1.0000</e>
</Element>
Replace by:

<BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">Scenery\Characters\9F_Fireman_Steam.xml</BlueprintID>
</iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
</BlueprintID>
<Matrix>
<cHcRMatrix4x4>

<e d:type="sFloat32">0.000000</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32">-0.108195</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32">0.000000</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32">0.000000</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32">1.000000</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32">0.000000</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32">0.000000</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32">0.108195</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32">0.000000</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32">-0.994130</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32">0.000000</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32">0.609482</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32">1.590967</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32">-5.628723</e>
<e d:type="sFloat32">1.000000</e>
</Element>
Save and convert it back to a file bin file with serz.exe

Do not forget to backup everything, just in case!!!!!!!!!

And you will have a fireman not waving to the outside crowd but managing coal and instruments.

So much better! Enjoy, :lol:

Thanks for that Paul, it's nice to see the waving fireman but not on all the locos, nice little fix for those who want to do it. :)

Any chance of uploading this in a patch to UKTS?

I can pm the bin files if you want them. Just put them in the corresponding engine folders.

I think they would be a good addition to the library, surely you could upload them?

As the blueprints are from a commercial product, they can't really be uploaded to the library, certainly not without Sly's permission in any case.

I can't see why not, it would be just like a reskin, just making sure that shape files are not included.

Or in the case of RWD including them anyway :bad-words:

I'm sure if we ask Sly he will let this mod be released, it isn't releasing the model just a slight mod.

Sly. what do you think?

Hi, If you ask nicely he might even host it on his site! :)

I fully agree,

It could well be that the positioning of the fireman by Sly was intentional. So then there would be no question of a patch. As it was indeed an error then Sly is the person to change his payware product with a public patch. Indeed this is payware!

But for limited privated use I see no problem, the modification can be done without any manipulation of the original base code (Sly please comment..)

It was supposed to be a bit of a giggle for Evening Star during the "Last Pines" run, but yeah, he's a bit of a slacker, otherwise.

The fireman, that is.

Not Sly.

Don't kill me, Paul... :)

Rik.

Because, assuming you create a reskin from scratch (i.e. a completely new bitmap) it is entirely your own work and so fair to be uploaded as such. In the case of a blueprint, it is still somebody elses work with modifications and so it can't be uploaded without permission of the original author. I agree blueprints are something of a grey area as they are at least partially automatically created, however at the very least, when uploading anything based on somebody else's work (commercial or otherwise), it is polite to ask permission (and without checking, I suspect the license for IHH products specifically prohibits uploading anything anywhere without permission).

Plus, in this case, my impression is that Sly prefers to host repaints etc. for IHH products on the IHH website, so asking him to host a modified version there would probably be the best bet (don't forget, if a patch were uploaded here, it would still be Sly getting support emails if it broke something!)

So bottom line,

If you want the blue-print mod, just ask for it for private use. It will not be uploaded here.
