Still no official acknowledgement of the freeware contributions made to RailWorks, just mention of add-ons filling holes in the market. It cannot be that hard to officially say thank you to all freeware contributors and acknowledge that they exist - perhaps one day ..

End of gripe :D
Exactly. Without the Freeware Developers producing Assets and Rolling Stock at the start Rail Simulator In my opinion would have had a short lifespan.
Kind regards James.

Not sure if I heard it correctly but did someone on the video mention that keyboard will no longer be useable?? I hope I heard it wrong, as much as the new interface is great for beginners / casuals / arcade generation, I don't want it clogging up my screen and getting in the way. I like driving from the keyboard as it keeps the screen clear to display just the cab view and gives you quick and instant control input as opposed to faffing around wasting valuable seconds moving a mouse to the right part of the screen first.

If I need to hit the brakes sharpish and kill the throttle at the same time, followed by a swift blast on the horn, I don't want to have to first manouever a micro mouse pointer into the right place before I can drop the anchor!! With a keyboard I can do all 3 actions in the time it would take me to move the mouse pointer from one side of the screen to the other.

Nope, they said that they want to appeal to new users with the interface but also dont want to alienate those who like it the way it is so it is optional, just choose your method.

I think it will make it easier to drive - at least you can see controls & forward at same time. :) Only downside is 2 of us on the same broadband downloading it - I might have to nick my sons dongle till I've got it! :)

It's from MMORPG forums. It's what you say to people when they say "WAH WAH, it's not fair. I quit!". Basically saying, if you're really leaving can I have all of the possessions your characters have because you won't need them.
Invariably nobody gets given anything as the poster is just blowing off steam and has no intention of quitting. They just want to make noise and get attention.

These days it's short hand for: if you're really quiting then give away all of your stuff to prove you mean it otherwise you're just attention seeking, or, if you're really quitting then go do something else and stop posting "Look at me! Look at me! I'm quitting!" in every thread you can find.

So you see the reason he posted it

I think you need to re-read section 3 of the forum Code of Conduct, Karma.

Sounds interesting, although one hint may well be an extension of the Great Western Mainline, considering the picture is of a location i haven't seen in Railwork, who knows we may be running to Penzance or Swansea...

It's very interesting but I'd like to say thanks to Derek and RSC for working hard in getting these updates to us.

I think to understand Railworks 2 you need to take your 'hardcore simmer' hat off for a while.

This is clearly a change solely or at least primarily to make Railworks more user-friendly and more accessible to the masses. The clues are in the video, it's all about enabling the 'Playstation generation' to be able to join in without getting fed-up and throwing the box at dad and shouting "this sucks get me Medal of Honour".

For hardcore simmers I doubt there will be anything of immediate benefit other than a better menu screen. The benefits will come in time through increased sales of Railworks to the 'Playstation generation' which will generate more cash for RS.com, which will then enable them to generate more add-ons, which will generate more cash for RS.com, which will then enable them to advance the sim to the levels the hardcore simmers demand, which will ultimately make everyone happy in the end!!!

This is just another step in the process required to get our sim where we want it. Be patient, more sales of Railworks = more future for our sim.

I personally feel very optimistic knowing there is a dedicated team of pro's whose sole function in life is Railworks. How cool is that to know that there are people out there whose actual job is to make our hobby bigger and better!

In comparisson MSTS was created, released and then abandoned. Railworks is very much still in development, still in its infancy and still improving.
