I can confirm that this is what happens. On my ATI 4850 I spend ages a while ago trying to work out why RW did not look as good as it used to. Turned out I had set AA to 16 (thinking it would be even nicer looking). But when I checked my ATI Catalyst Control Center thingy (all the ATI Driver Settings in their) the max AA setting is 8 for my card.

Set it back to 8 in RW2 load screen and lovely graphics again so yes 16 (in my case) disabled AA completely as was not supported by my card.

I think it was accepted that in Rail Simualtor the AA setting made no difference at all but I can now reproduce the RW2 difference on this work computer with different settings. With all other settings set so low the loss of AA is not noticable but the increase in frame rates is.

I think is the same thing in a different thread:

That post from the thread looks like this (for those who like to count their tabs on one hand...)

The key thing to remember when it comes to scenario editing is that we have exactly the same tools as the pro developers do with the exception of career mode. I've seen the author, location and all/steam/diesel/electric boxes before and filled them all in, but I'm yet to restore any of my WIP scenarios from backup (I'm doing a bottom-up spring clean of my RW installation) so yet to see if it's worked for mine.

Check the graphic options screen as mine selected detail level 10 (full) when run for the first time. I don't know if that's related to me installing from scratch and selectively adding certain freeware downloads one by one or whether user settings would have been purged by the update for everyone. Because I have a five year old computer with a Nvidia 8400GS (a multimedia graphics card not designed for gaming use) I have to keep my filter down to 7 and most other settings low or medium, but once I put all the settings back to what I had before I am experiencing better graphical performance than before across the board. Hopefully this will be a thing of the past when I get my sexy new laptop mainly for multimedia production use next year.

Well for me RW2 is a major step backwards. In RW2 most of the liverys i've installed no longer work and some DLC is missing and if I get them to work the F keys and esc do not work and if I get thease keys to work the liverys and some DLC stop working and so it go's on and on. I've wasted afew days trying to get RW2 to work aswell as RW1 without success. To add to this the JT voyagers front end is missing i'm not sure if any one else has this problem. I've tryed everything that is standard pratice to fix it ie verify files, delete cache & reinstalled things without joy. So this is the end of the line for RW for me as it is worse than RW1 I feel like i've wasted hundreds of pounds with all the stuff I have.

I wonder if there is some anti-piracy system at work which is being a bit too agressive and is filtering out some legitimate third party content. I can only suggest that you try a clean install of RW2 from Steam including your DLC, which should all work OK and then perhaps bring in your third party content one by one again. This might identify any of the add-ons that RW2 does not like.

Presumably the Third Party Payware Developers will have been given information on this anti-piracy protection and other problems that might affect their products with RW-2. I have yet to look on the various websites for patches yet as I have not updated. One would presume they would be keen to sort out any conflicts with the new program and their Content. Thanks for those shots transadelaide.

Good answer :D but still a mystery as to why some people are having problems.

Have upgraded.
I can run from Drive by Train in the Class 390 and it shows up some of my own Route Scenarios but not all of them. I thought that wasn't working yet at all or you had to put stuff in the other Scenario boxes in the Editor. However the new F4 thingy is showing the Brakes still on on the 390 at 0% when on the old one it meant no Brake no Power. I have to go up to 33% to get in that situation now. it is a combined throttle. So when I take it to 0% instead of idling it starts to brake.
Geoff and others who commented on the text. Yes the text is small on my widescreen monitor and I have to squint in my Varifocals to see it and then with difficulty. Sorry for being and oldie and visually compromised RSC. Will not make any other comments yet until I have had a chance to try everything. :D (Derek breathes a sigh of relief)
Confused.
Kind regards James.

I did ask in a email about this...

But what about creators such as IHH where you can buy and purchase from his "3rd Party" website, and a week / month / 6 months /etc.. later appears on Steam as well, does that then mean that the "3rd Party" item will be picked up as 'dodgy' because you haven't got the related Steam files for it any more.

(Most likely applies to Digital Traction content too)

Of course, it's great to try to fight piracy, but lets face it, it's always happened through the years with cassette, then onto CD / DVD, and now with digital distribution, but if it makes legitimate purchasers think twice about buying something because it could not be worth the hassle next time something is uploaded to Steam / software is updated. Therefore, in actual fact you've lost more money not through Piracy but due to the 'Restriction' that paying customers have to put up with (i.e disappearing items, because the 'Game' thinks it's dodgy).

Those products that can be bought elsewhere are not on our protected list for that reason.
It is steam exclusive.

From RSC Twitter:
To make your trains appear under Drive By Train - Open each scenario and re-save it. This is currently being done to all Official DLC. Adam
