Re: Just Trains VGA/VKA Wagon Pack
I have used these wagon sounds without problems, just point the installer to the right location.

Thats strange, i have the wagon soundpack installed on my RW and i have no problems with it whatsoever, its fantastic!bigphill2 wrote:Hi guys
hokitika67 is wright about the AP wag sounds and railworks . Richard definately said not to run these in railworks, i read that thread too. I think they were causing sbh or crash . Its not very long ago so i would recomend checking with AP reguards this

Hi, it MIGHT work but don't blame AP if it doesn't in Railworks as they have advised against it.. Flak jacket on

Re: Just Trains VGA/VKA Wagon Pack
I've got a couple of AP soundpacks that are still in the original Railsimulator format. Mk3 soundpack, wagon soundpack and others too that I can't recall off the top of my head.
I've been using them all since RW came out and on every occasion that Steam overwrites the files on an update.
When you launch the installer program you just have to change the destination folder at the start of the install process from Railsimulator to wherever Railworks is.
I'm sure this was advised many moons ago when Railworks was released. As I said that's what I've been doing ever since with all my original RS soundpacks and have had no problems. I might add though that I've never tried to mess about altering other files that the AP installer does not deal with, so my AP sounds don't work on all wagons.

Re: Just Trains VGA/VKA Wagon Pack
Hi all
Just to confirm my advice concerning the wagon sound pack. I don't recommend installing it as all the edited .bin wagon files are the versions left from Rail Simulator days and I seem to remember there was a particular compability issue with a container flat that went a bit haywire when I copied in the old Rail Simulator file so that's why I've advised against it. By all means though if you feel you have the technical expertise to do so, feel free to implement them in RailWorks, I just don't support it
.
Hopefully I'll have a proper, more comprehensive, wagon sound pack out for RailWorks in the future that would automatically install the relevant sounds onto most/if not all established wagon packs.

Hi, they shouldn't be doing that and aren't on my system or other ones that they have been tested on, and I'm not aware of other reports of it so I'd imagine something bad has happened to your RailWorks installation somewhere. Have you modified any files, either for this pack or anything else?

Re: Just Trains VGA/VKA Wagon Pack
I haven't touched the files, it was a bit odd, they started okay on the track, there was about 5 wagons on one track coupled to a shunter, and another 20 (a mix of IWB's and VGA's) coupled to 2 class 37's. They were okay to sart with, but this only occured as soon as i coupled them together and started to go round a curve.
It was only the speedlink VGA's that did it, all the other variants were okay.

Re: Just Trains VGA/VKA Wagon Pack
OK guys here a screenie of the problem below, it appears to only effect some of the FSA wagons.

On the front of the train it looks like the containers have not been secured properly and have obliterated the rear cab of the loco after a sharp brake application
The wagons used in this particular scenario before the sound pack was installed are shown below:

So not only are the containers hanging off the edge but also the type of FSA load had also changed.
I have created a patch file to fix the problem: my very first contribution to the community. Its awaiting clearance.
File ID is 25042 (sorry I dont know how to show a link to files that have not yet been cleared like I have seen some other do!)
A very minor contribution admitted but hopefully the first of many more. I'm still enjoying playing with all my DLC driving the trains but I intend to develop a series of scenario's when I finish doing that to further contribute to the community. The theme will be my favoured era, BR blue all round: 1978 - 1985.
If anyone knows of any other wagons effected by the AP RS Freight soundpack by all means let me know and I will incorporate them in the patch.
Best respects to all.
Malc
**EDIT** Sorry cant get the link to the UKTS File to work properly, anyone tell me how to do it properly or enlighten me as to what I'm doing wrong?? Thanx

Hi Malc
Just a friendly word to say that you need to reduce the size of the screenshot above, as it's currently larger than the maximum size of 800 x 600 allowed on the forums.
