Short of painting one in lilac and green spots, its hard to think of a livery they would look bad in.

It would depend on how well the lining was done I think.

I sure hope they havnt given up on it, it would be amazing to have a pannier pack, with all sorts of liveries, and auto coaches and maybe a few toads thrown in? that would be an IDEAL GWR pack, and its not as though they have to modify the hall cab view that much, the cab is not far off.
I think the cab is very different from a collett cab im afraid. Ive not see the inside of one admittedly, but from photos it looks a lot closer to the inside of Petes Prairie cab (lever reverse for example). I guess it was inevitable really, as the following illustrates they never really designed a NEW 060 pannier at Swindon. They were all elaborations on a general theme laid down very early.

Still, if it aint broke, dont mend it. When they tried to by putting a new boiler in the 94xx, it was arguably a bit too weighty for its role. Still, it looked pretty. :)

Ill look forward to the Scotsman, as I can justifiably run it on Western Rails under railtour conditions. But I must admit im getting a bit weary of all the LMS and LNER stuff to be honest.

I drove and fired 6435 2 years ago and she had a screw reverser..... Suppose it depends what kind of pannier it is then. I suppose RSC Could ask to use Karmas cab because its pretty spot on.

It may depend on the version. Ive a bachman 57xx (well, 77xx really) and it has lever reverser, but it also has round cab windows which I understand were used on the early versions. Possibly the later versions had screw reverser at the same time as they fitted the square windows.

Is there any definative book on the 57xx? With something like 800 built and by at least 3 companies, I would imagine it would be difficult to keep track of all the different mods.

the GWR had a general rule when building locos: if the loco pulls goods trains or is mixed traffic it had a lever reverser, if the loco was high speed or just pulled passengers it had a screw reverser. hope this helps  .

That fits with something ive recently read, a booklet on the restoration of Erlestoke Manor. Apparently it was used for shunting for a while, despite it having a screw as opposed to level reverser. To be able to work a bit faster, they overoiled the thread on the reverser so it could turn a bit faster. I get the impression it was far from an ideal soution. Imagine having to wind the blessed thing over 50 times to assemble a train. No wonder they kept the dean goods so long.....

Afternoon everyone,

Just returning to the topic of 60103 for a moment, the lining out on the firebox should not be there when carrying Brunswick Green livery. When British Railways started using it's own liveries, fireboxes were never lined.

Very Best Wishes,
Bob.

This was brought to my attention on Facebook, not sure how I missed it. A case of staring at something so long that you can no longer see it methinks.

It's since been rectified, along with the incomplete lining on the cab side.

Hi

WOW 4472 returns just go to the Rail Simulator blog the address is at Page 1 three variants by the looks of things the best for me
being in single chimney form without those awful deflectors and double chimney. What would Sir Nigel Gresley think.
I will buy this one when it is released however,a lot cheaper than its current overhaul has been.

Thanks
Mr Warwick Hatton
