I'm unable to get the Class 86 to move, I'm running in easy mode, apart from this little problem I'm very impressed so far. Any advise welcome.

same here - read the instructions and couldn't find a way to get this quality loco to budge an inch? Nothing in there to suggest that it cannot be done in easy mode that I can see.

Is it not the case it can only be driven in expert mode?

Would suggest reading the manual first.

Read the manual on how to drive it. It is a tap changer and requires some work to drive it. Its easy and a blast once you get the hang of it.

It says in the scenario information **EXPERT MODE ONLY** for all scenarios that require you to drive the 86, it would be simpler if easy mode was removed!

Absolutely superb.. Many THX.

Time to start writing some scenarios to get some more non default stock populating the line... Its gonna be along night :drinking:

If this loco can only be driven in the expert mode then I'm very disappointed, I hope this is not the case.

I have only achieved luck when driving in expert mode, and that was quite annoying in the beginning, but when you get used to the Class 86, then it's actually easy to drive.

Hi,
For the time being the class 86 can only be driven in expert mode.

While I know it is not ideal for users using simple controls, it really is the best way to get the most out of the Loco.

then why wont it work properly in expert in the career system scenarios( will only go at 10 mph max) but works ok in the normal scenarios on wcml north. shows as 0% where ever you try to increase speed even though controls move

Well I have managed very well without expert controls, and still find the sim very relistic, choice is not a bad thing in my book.

While aiming for realism in locomotive control, on the one hand is to be applauded it is not a good marketing strategy for Rs.com to confine it's operation to 'expert' control. My grandchildren 5,4,3 and 2 (the youngest isn't quite there yet) enjoy operating RW, but not including a simple controls option with a loco at launch is a short sighted strategy. Sophisticated controls are beyond the ability of the very young and we do want train simulation to be experienced by children from as early an age as possible.

Hi Mark,
While I understand what you are saying we made a choice, it certainly was not short sighted as we thought long and hard about what to do.
Suffice to say that a few things will change in the very near future and with the new driving interface the easy mode will work.

best regards
