Great quality reskin on this though it does sound a bit like a GM :P. Some evidence of a 'grunt' though!

Bought it. Rear power car is dead, no audio. Maybe the boys told valve to hold off and someone flipped the switch anyway? Still an excellent model regardless and the new sounds are indeed nice.

yeh i think it looks superb, i think the actual power car model has been tweaked and improved somewhat? especially around the backend by the looks of it.

the sounds are fantastic except for the external top end scream of full power, the grunt at each notch setting is great but it just sounds a bit washing machine-ish at the very last setting. it be a deafening scream of turbocharger plus the valenta roar, but hey, even the coaches has the pneumatic whine!!

no passenger view in buffet though?
or notched brakes which is a shame,
also...rear power car is dead, now the code has been released for hst rear car sound by Armstrong Powerhouse, is this likely to be fixed in the near future?

but all in all very nice!

So, who spotted the deliberate mistake? The 'Fag Packet' HST is now available, as many of you have noticed, despite my concerns that it would not be out until Monday. I hope you all have a great weekend thrashing out of Paddington!

Cheers

Ive taken time out because despite nearly making it to paddington with the winter scenario, I got another spad due to my incompetence. Suffice to say the sounds are very much an improvement (can you have a look at the rear car one day guys?) and the skin as far as I can tell is accurate and looks excellent.

Bonus points for:-
Nice engine spoolup. I cant compare it to the armstrong one since I dont have it, but Im more than impressed with this one.
Better horn. Not perfect in driveby, but much better overall.
Higher definition passengers, look much better parked in the station.
Nice to get the whistle blown for the right away when the doors shut. I like this! It really adds to the atmosphere.
Cool bleepy bleepy noise when the direction selector is pushed into a position. Maybe Im just very sad....

For 3 new scenarios as well as 2.99, I really cant complain. Nice work chaps.

Thanks Derek - lovely skin (the power car, not you  ) and tweaks to the model, the sounds are light years better than the originals (though I prefer the AP ones as ever).

The one scenario Ive done so far - the sleeper replacement one - was excellent.

One thing I did notice is that despite being heavy on the right foot (to the point a real 43 would have tripped out) I could only get it up to 122mph on the flat by Iver before having to brake sharply for the slow line. I haven't driven another HST that direction for ages so my comparison may be wrong, but are the physics different from the stock HSTs? Not saying they are wrong, but they seem less powerful. Alternatively, given the total lack of sound from the rear PC (not even idling sounds) is the rear PC dead, and hence the sensation of being less powerful? If so can we switch it on?!

It could be as simple as many of the HSTs in the default scenarios only having 7 indermediate trailers, whilst the ones in the 'Fag Pack' scenarios have the prototypical 8?

hija, ...

When the HST is missing Groundschadow.

The sound is good, there is even a whistle at the exit. Nice.
He can be quiet a bit louder.

I thought that for a while (at least until privatisation revitalised the passenger market) that seeing HST sets with only 7 coaches was quite normal as well as eight, and on long-distance ECML services nine?

It does seem a greater difference than that though having just run When the Snow Falls. Career scenarios don't allow you to edit so it's not really possible to tell if the rear Class 43 has been classed as dead. It also could be that these are more realistic performing locomotives than the default Class 43s (which seem too fast accelerating at times) are, but it's hard to tell.

On the ECML it was always 2+8. Only in the latter years of GNER did they make them 2+9.

As for acceleration, I have always found them to be underpowered and haven't thought that they accelerated too fast. They could shift in real life when asked! :D
