Re: IHH Britannia!
I think only Sly could do that, as it is an animation of the actualy model which requires the original files.

Agreed, i hate him.pufpuf wrote:Question:
I have both the 9F and Brittania. Would it be possible to swap the Evening Star (lazy waving) fireman for the one of Brittania?
This would be a great improvement to the 9F.....

I agree, and think it's entirely the fault of the lazy fireman that I struggle so much to get over the S&D!pufpuf wrote:Question:

Re: IHH Britannia!
But that was precisely the problem they encountered on the S&D when the 9F's were introduced. The grand idea was to save costs by single heading trains that were previously double headed. It was soon discovered that the 9Fs didn't need pilot locomotives, but what had been overlooked was the fact that the fireman was shovelling coal so fast he was clapped out long before the train reached Masbury summit.
Sly has introduced a new slant on this interesting scenario. It is beyond comprehension that a highly efficient BR (WR), with ever an attentive eye to even the smallest detail would overlook the fact that a fireman could not physically shovel coal fast enough to reach the summit. Since BR (WR)'s efficiency cannot for one moment be called into question, the only conclusion we can reach is that the fireman were lazy. Sly correctly depicts this prototypical scenario.

Re: IHH Britannia!
Alright, Ill buy that. Can I feed him headfirst into the firebox now? (The fireman, not Sly!)
Re: IHH Britannia!
Yes it is possible to change the "Lazy Fireman", I've just tried it and it worked.
Needless to say back up your folders first to avoid upsets.
1. Go to your IHH/9F Evening Star/Scenery/Characters folder and delete the contents
2. Copy to files from the IHH/7MT Britannia/Scenery/Characters folder into the IHH/9F Evening Star/Scenery/Characters folder
3. Now go to your IHH/9F Evening Star/RailVehicles/Steam/9F/Default/Engine folder and using Serz.exe convert the 9F Evening Star_engine_blueprint.bin file and create a 9F Evening Star_engine_blueprint.xml file
4. Open that xml file and find the line "Scenery\Characters\9F_Driving_steam.xml" and change it to Scenery\Characters\7MT_Driving_steam.xml
5. Now find the line "Scenery\Characters\9F_Fireman_steam.xml" and change it to Scenery\Characters\7MT_Fireman_steam.xml
6. Covert the xml file back into a bin file and job done.
7. Then repeat 3 to 6 for the DC and SC folders and enjoy.

Re: IHH Britannia!
Hi Ron,
I followed your instructions as good as I could but it did not work. I end up with an empty cab!?
In the 7MT xml files there are references back to the 7MT Brittania folder instead of the 9F. Should these lines also be changed?
regards,
Paul

Hi Paul,
If you PM me with your email I'll send you the altered xml files to you. May take a short while as just about to retire after a night shift.
Cheers Ron

Re: IHH Britannia!
Finally bought IHH Britannia the other day. I have driven it the long way right across Wales and Borders hauling more coal than is fair up some monster climbs.
I am really impressed, model, cab, sound and xfactor.
I particularly like the way it chews through coal (most other locos seem too economical). It is also the first loco I own where I don't leave the blower and damper on full time. Infact I haven't really mastered it yet which makes it fun and gives it longevity.
I am tempted by the 9F now!

Hi all
Quick question: does the Brittania package include tenders with the early (lion-over-wheel) crest?
Thanks
Jos

Re: IHH Britannia!
Here is an idea for sly in the future.
He could do a small expansion pack for the 7MT where we have 71000 Duke Of Gloucester. It's number and name don't fit in the current numbering system.
He could do a variation on the valve gear at the same time. Caprotti
71000 is by far the best steam loco I have ever seen.

Re: IHH Britannia!
71000 Duke of Gloucester is a 8MT if I remember correctly, meaning an entirely new model as it uses a different set of valvegear and has many more differences compared to a 7MT.xguerra wrote:Here is an idea for sly in the future.
