How will it be possible to precisely control throttle and loco/train brakes with such a short throw?
Making fine adjustments looks like it will be quite fiddly if not impossible.
Not an issue if you carry on like Hammy McFist in his buttered boxing gloves in that video

They can easily rectify this by defining custom scale for pushing HUD levers. You would define it by a slider in the options pane, where you decide for automatic fireman and such.
When you press the mouse button on one of the levers, the mouse would disappear and the lever would be moved by your vertical mouse motion divided by your preset factor. When you released the mouse, it would pop up in the sky or wherever -- or on the lever again, which can be more handy in some cases, but not in others.

Another option seen in some programs is that you press Ctrl or Shift for fine movements. No idea what the CEO thinks we will be doing with our left hand and if it is admissible to touch the keyboard in conjunction with the great new feature.

I agree that the best bet would be to simply make all thats already available plus a hud if they feel it necessary totally scaleable and positionable.. These things that simply clutter up the screen are really ancient in there look and lack of customizeation..

Though to be fair I had hardly used any of them before so it wasn't that big an issue.. Its just that now the damn career scenarios force you to block out part of the screen with a lump of imobile ugliness..

It's nice to have more choice coming our way, very well constructed and there if you need it; like all the other dialogs that Railworks uses.

Oh.Oh, ...

Sorry I find it very bad.(The HUD)

I want to see my Control displays the locomotive and not double windows gadgets.
The Mainwindow will become even smaller.

Why do you do not like in WorldOSubway ... and semi-transparent.?

I drive no locomotive with the mouse ... my car does not go so well with a stick.
Next HUD Step is driver of a simulated arm, and then as in the FPS ..God beware

Just leave everything as is and only permanently transparent.
Everything else seems candy-colored and arcade console.
Not seriously as a driving simulation with a window full of important data.

Hey dear Erik  !

Myself I find this future HUD a few arcade mode ...But but for some others users, it can be help for driving !

Overall I hope this HUD can be disable in the RW windows parameters !

Althought this HUD is not an disagreement for me !

I seem to recall that there was a lot of negative comments about career scenarios before people actually got to play them so it might be the same with this new HUD, though don't forget that it is still a work in progress.

Hummm !

For me it is not a negative improvement ...I like the form of the new HUD and the ability to drive only with mouse cursor...But as some others users we go a few away from a real driving simulator !

Myself I'm driving with a joystick which is also not a real style for driving a train  !

But RW is a great game ! I like it :multi:

As long as it can be turned off, it's nothing negative. Can only improve the sim for folk who want to use it

The new HUD is likely to be a major encouragement for the development of freeware locos and DMU/EMU sets. Judging by some of the things I've read around the various RW fora, creating a custom cab is tough work. Even in some payware packs, especially older ones, many of the gauges are quite hard to read and/or in places that would only be visible if peripheral vision could be simulated. RW is a consumer-level product in the simulation computer game sector, so there will always be things that cannot be simulated and need substituted alternatives instead, the accelerometer in career scenarios is a good example as a substitute for proper 3D visuals (i.e. they are drawn onto a flat-surfaced screen) and real motion. In the case of the HUD, this will be an encouragement to potential modellers to get their freeware out there even without a working cab featuring all the gauges done correctly, knowing that it will still be drivable and maybe another modeller who has cab creation experience will offer to assist them.

hi, ...

We need a start bar like Windows with mini icons.
Once on the appropriate icon is clicked and pediatric patients popup window appears ... semi-transparent.

Advantage ... little image loss.
Of course you can also design two layouts, one for arcade mode and a drive for all the serious and want to simulate the rail operation.

Sometimes the simplest things are the best.

Hello  !

I want to to add : this new HUD is very usefull when you are in hollidays and working only on a notebook PC without hardware like RAILDRIVER console or some joysticks (like you are at home !)...

If it's an option, I don't have problems with the new HUD, but I sure like the way Ice is seeing things.
