RSC Port Road

Post by pjt1974 »

Just a quick question
If I already have a copy of Keith's Port Road v3 installed, will it be recognised by steam as and when Keith get round to extending and steam automatically updates?
or would it be best to delete the UK trainsim copy and reinstall with the steam version?
either way I'm happy, just thought it'd be good point of reference for the inevitable questions on Friday.

Regards
Phil
For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it ;-)

I have a feeling that it might be separate but that's only because the 3rd version of the route was separate to the 2nd version (well it is in my Railworks!) that is of course there are any changes to it?
Something goes here??

Keith has stated that the Port Road hasn't been extended due to the work needed to finish the WCML.

Although AFAIK he also said that he intends to expand and update it it in the future, and for RSC to give out these upgrades via Steam.

Hi,
Just to clarify - this is something I posted on another thread over the weekend...

Hi Andy,
I was hoping RSC would clarify this point on their website as it was unclear when they made the announcement last week.
I have given them permission to distribute the Port Road route free of charge via Steam. The route has not been extended as yet - however, it will be distributed in such a way as will allow me to continue developing it when I have the time to do so - post-WCML. So, for now, you get version 3 of the route, which only covers Dumfries to Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright (hopefully with any existing signalling issues rectified). At this time the route only contains core RW content.
Importantly, this version will benefit from future updates via Steam and be expanded upon in due course. Also, similar to TestTrak, the route will be available for RSC to produce bonus scenarios to go with future DLC stock.
Sorry if this is a bit of a disappointment, but I will get back to it soon .
Cheers,
Keith

Unfortunately, RSC have not yet corrected this and now the same error appears on their Facebook page.

Best regards,
Keith

Hi Keith,

As you say RSC's use of the phrase "The Port Road Expansion Pack" is misleading, as there is no expansion as yet.
I'm sure we're all looking forward to when you do expand it, as it's a must-have route.

I have mentioned on Facebook that I think RSC should take the opportunity to include some maroon mk1s (like those in the Jubilee pack I think), instead of those Southern green jobbies from the S&D. If they can do this, all default stock scenario writers will rejoice as after 4 or so years of RS/RW, we still don't have any maroon coaches! Some blood & custards would be nice too.

Thanks again for TPR 3.0 by the way.

Cheers
David
