No need to say sorry mate, it happens from time to time
Re: IHH Western Packs Released
I don't think the physics for the 14 are quite right....
heading into the first tunnel from bath approaching 90mph....
actually all the physics are aliased to the Western. hmmmm. still happy with my purchase though!

Currently recreating Salisbury to Exeter 50s/60s.
almost all yard, trackwork, scenery and signalling complete salisbury - wilton. Trackwork 2013 standard to Gillingham, Older beyond. - Abandoned due to newer tools in subsequent TS versions.

Didnt QUITE make it up Sapperton bank (well it did have 20 tanks behind it and it was a 1-60), but I think I was expecting a bit too much from it. Good excuse for a double heading next time anyway.

One thing ive noticed with the diesels, when it gets to very low speed the amps go up, and you can usually pull out of situations like that, albeit at very low speed. I guess due to being hydraulic, Westerns couldnt do that?

Just a thought, having watched the demonstrator videos of the pack on youtube; wouldn't the 42s be better off sound wise, rather than sharing with the 52s, to be aliased to the DB V200s - which are pretty much the same as Warships in reality.

I'm guessing so. (being hydraulic). I'm still getting used to working the throttle on these guys because of that. It's an entirely different feel. In a way, throttling down on these is vaguely similar to a dynamic brake like effect. I dig it, the more I have to do on the controls the happier I am.stuart666 wrote: I guess due to being hydraulic, Westerns couldnt do that?

I love the way you can set the throttle and go away and make a cup of tea.styckx wrote:I'm guessing so. (being hydraulic). Thanks Maddog,maddog989 wrote:sounds like the cab shake bug. should sort itself out by next time you play, if not try clearing cache.fatbloke wrote:I have a possible issue, which may be down to my graphics settings but I don't know. The brake gauges are flashing all the time and the cab seems to rock and roll for no apparent reason. I have just completed the Cardiff scenario and the cab has been rocking all the way through. Apart from that I love both packs.

I ran the Cardiff scenario again and there was no cab shake. You learn something new every day!

Sly
Just had a 'thrash' down the line to Reading and Didcot on the 1V28. Had my headphones on and the sound was just awesome. Both the Western and the Western Locomotive packs are great. Looking forward to trying out the other 3 scenarios, and may even have a go at writing a scenario, maybe a Western on the SDJR!!
Many thanks for these models

Does anyone have a problem with the coupling on the Warship? It does not show correctly.

Re: IHH Western Packs Released
Am I missing an email?
I got the email for the Westerns fine, installed it, and ran the locos. They look and sound great.
. . . But when I tried load a scenario on the O-P route, I get a message saying I'm missing a Class 35, Class 42 and Class 22.
I know these locos are in the Western Regions diesels pack, but do I have to buy those locos separately? This does not make sense from a developer's standpoint.
Any help is appreciated.
And yes, I installed the Bonus Content RWP.
EDIT: If I try to load the other 3 scenarios on the route, I get the SBHH error.

Re: IHH Western Packs Released
Hi.
There are two packs required to run the supplied scenarios that come with the Class 52. One pack is the 52 Western, the other is the BR Western Region Diesels.
If you have both firstly try clearing the Blueprint Cache in Tools & Docs of the opening screen of RW. If the second pack is not recognised i suggest you enter World Editor and via Oblect Set Filter and check the box listed under developer IHH as it may not be checked.
If you do not have the second pack the locos that are missing can be substituted using RWTools, that is what i have done.
Best Regards
Clive

Re: IHH Western Packs Released
Another point: AFAIK, double-heading with Westerns was problematic because they didn't have multiple-working gear! You'd need two crews, just like steam engines. Better to run two separate trains in most cases.
But a pair of Hymeks could be put together.
Reading between the lines with some of the comments, it looks like RailWorks' diesel-hydraulic model is indeed being used. The DH model in RailWorks is completely bogus, and unless Sly has done some very fancy tricks with the scripting, the results will certainly not be realistic. That probably explains why there's no low-down grunt to get heavy trains up hills - the transmission is being modelled as a strange kind of fluid coupling, not a true torque converter.
Put simply, with a torque converter you get more torque out than you put in, if the wheels are turning significantly slower than the engine. Obviously you don't get more *power* out than put in, but torque is often what you need. A fluid coupling doesn't do that for you.

The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.
