Post by clivejames1st »

I purchased the Western only as i did not want the other locos without cabs. I am sure they will appear later fully furnished by someone. I can wait.
I replaced the Hymeks with R. Scotts Hymeks, the Warships with 37s and the others with either Class 20s or 47s.
The scenario 1V28 appears to work well after the swap, not tried the others yet.
As for the Western Class 52, it is a great loco, absolutely love it. Sounds are great, excellent detail, in and out, with working wipers, sliding windows and operating blinds. All controls work with the mouse. Horn takes a little getting used to.
Shame about no manual, cannot find one anyway.
All-in-all i am very pleased with the purchase.

Thanks Sly.

Best Regards

Clive

Hi Guys

Some info on the numbering system.

the full 32 digits are used to display
Number 5 digits, Name 19 digits, Namplate four digits, Headcode four digits

# is blank

example
D1009##WESTERN#INVADER###b##1M17

Numbers.. straight forward D1064 etc

Name..... the longest name has 18 letters plus central space making 19 digits
if your name has an even amount of letters then it has a single space in the centre if it has an odd amount then put two spaces in the centre to keep things spaced evenly.
The remaining spaces are then shared as prefix / suffix eg ##XXXXXXXX#XXXXXXXXXX##
Upper case Digits only

Nameplate.. four nameplate lengths avaiable a,b,c,d (lower case)
syntax is a### or #b## or ##c# or ###d

Headcode.. eg 1A64
Upper case letters only
@ should produce a dot ( not tested)

Sorry about lack of manual.. imminence proved a problem there :D

Hi, ...

Sly
Small note.

In the rear bogey of the middle class 52 wheel is not animated round.
The rotation point of seeming to be wrong.

Otherwise, very nice loco.

Hi Sly

Just bought both sets and I'm really pleased - fantastic work!

Did notice one little graphic problem with the Class 22's nose - the overhead warning panel symbol is reversed so it reads backwards! :o

Also the Class 22 doesn't appear to have any cab aliased to it - you just appear to be sitting in fresh air. Or have I missed something (I thought they were all driveable with the WR pack having aliased cabs and sounds).

Apart from the middle axle wheels on the Class 52 being off centre (which has been mentioned I think) everyhing else is looking great so far  :D

Cheers

Please be carefull when unwrapping the 52..

had a couple of cases whereby someone has dropped it and bent the middle axle... tut tut

replacement parts on the way :D

--------------------------------------------

Seriously yep....Snags I have
the misaligned centre on no 5 axle
exterior wipers on Red small panel
no 2 engine smoke central

I will collate a snagging list over the next 48 hours followed by a patch

loving the western, will probably get the pack over the next few days. The western is excellently represented, as per expectations, in fact it exceeds them.

It's an extremely powerful loco! and with the engine racing at a heady 1.5krpm with a heavy load it's superb! As it's hydraulic you can just stick it up to full power can't you in real life? or is holding off till moving a bit you can then put it up? unlike the diesel-electrics where you have to let the ammeter drop before applying the next notch.
Currently recreating Salisbury to Exeter 50s/60s.
almost all yard, trackwork, scenery and signalling complete salisbury - wilton. Trackwork 2013 standard to Gillingham, Older beyond. - Abandoned due to newer tools in subsequent TS versions.

hi, ...

Thanks Sly.
This was not a criticism.
I love the Western class52.
She has a beautiful face ... what is missing many engines today.
A clear buy recommendation.

Really it is a top notch addon, well done Paul,we have had our differences many times, but this time all i can say is well done and thank you. Sounds are bang on authentic Western sounds,i might edit them for a personal feel but i could certainly revert back no problem, they are definetly more than adequete :)

Any chance of another patch to get replace the ghastly 'Made in Crewe' badge by a nice angelic 'Made In Swindon' plate? No? Ill get me coat.....

One other thing I notice about it, it holds the power very nice. You can apply the power spot on and it will hold it for miles. None of the other diesels ive found will do that. There is also very little wheelslip, which seems true to the real western due to having separate power bogies (I gather). It pulled 20 TTAs away piece of cake. It doesnt acellerate like a class 60 with the same load, but its more sure footed if you see what I mean.

Its a hoot, I really am going to have to do some scenarios for it. Now where is that 1960s BR timetable...
