Class56 in York Newcastle Route- derails

Post by misery456 »

Hi,
Last evening I finally got the Class 56 to work so I obviously had a go with it.

Its not the "MODERN" version. It was the Class56 Grid scenairo, it skirts around Newcastle to the North and
eventually gets onto the ECML but this train did not get that far.
Anyway, the train turned a corner and there were a lot of tracks, it was a goods yard or stores coaches.

When the train got to the other end of the yard it derailed.

I just thought someone may be interested in this.
Thank you.

Did you run over a set of points? And could these have been set 'against' you perhaps?

One question that comes to mind is did you notice if you had to manually change any points in order to advance? Entering/leaving yards can be tricky if you aren't familiar with setting the correct path manually ("number 9" view, shift + click on point, until blue line shows the right path).

Can you let us know exactly what the derailment message stated? If it was "derailment due to junction switched against at latitude 12.3456 longitude 12.3456" or similar then it means that you have run over some points you needed to manually change. If it is "derailment due to constant tilt" then you have a classic case of going too fast for the curve.

The message "said",

Train Derailed, points set in the wrong direction.

I apologise for not giving that in the starter post, sorry.
Thank you.

Hi Alan

The pathing through Tyne yard is a bit of a lottery, if running a little early or late, you can get pathed through the centre of the yard and then hit a wrongly set auto set of points.

To make sure of a path through tyne yard
.. as you arrive at Tyne yard check and reset if necessary the very first set of points (manual) to diverge left . this should then ensure you a path through .

THis set of points can be set by shift clicking on the 2D map or pressing G as you approach.

Hope it helps.
