Error line 113 again

Post by markjudith »

Installed new update the bought the 101, now RW won't load any of my routes to edit or play, all other routes, scenario edit option is greyed out, RW totaly unuseable being presented with the good old error line 113 when I try to access anything. It really is getting crazy having your heart in your mouth everytime you do an update worrying you may loose all your thousands of hours work because a new version may not allow you to use your own routes anymore.
Also 'clear blueprint cache' is greyed out and unuseable?
Done the verify games cache etc :(

Is this problem related to the 101 dmu, the update or has anyone else been banned from using their installation?

Greyed out "Clear Cache"? Strange sounds like some sort of damaged game files...

Assuming you have taken the backups of Railworks, that you need, it sounds like it is time to let Steam verify integrity of the games files.

Start Steam; right mouse click Railworks, select Properties, tab Local Files, click the button "VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE..." and wait.
When it is done; close Steam and start Railworks from icon. It will take some time to redownload the files required, then you should be ready to run the 101.

oops!

Sorry, Mark. I now see you have done the game cache verify - triggered on the greyed button. So you have a working backup of the RW files too? AND a reboot did not solve it?

It must be some kind of file corruption. You may have to start from the buttom, making sure the file system and OS is sound.

When you check the integrity of the game files it will always reset the route lock for the default routes so you need to unlock it first to access the edit functions.

I can't play any scenarios at all even in the default routes, I have a back up of an older version of RW and slid the 101 folder into that and it worked until I tried to drive it then the game crashed presumably because I haven't got the latest update to enable the geared system!

So it must be the update, all was well before that.

Just spent weeks route building and almost completed, tested many times then allowed update and hey ho...........

I guess it's full reinstall time again which should tip me over my download limit and it only takes around two days to do :fist:

Hi

Are you able to see exactly what the error message says? I thought it usually gave some kind of indications as to what's gone wrong, even if they are a bit cryptic!

Good luck.

Hi

As well as taking regular copies of the RailWorks folder, I also take copies of the whole Steam folder. On rare occasions I have deleted the whole Steam folder and replaced it with a copy of my copy and then checking in with Steam usually automatically updates everything. This is a good way of identifying problems with individual installations as if any errors that occurred in the faulty installation also happen again in the copied version, this might help to indicate where the problem is.

I am not sure that a full re-installation is necessary. If you have the DVD, as I have, then true it would only take about 10 minutes but a steam download is another matter. If steam has verified the games cache then the fault must be in a third party folder or the OS so that should be the first place to check for problems.

Thanks for your advice folks

I did as suggested with my backup and immediately replaced the whole Assets file, checked file with steam etc said all was well and up to date..... despite the German rail folder not being there! Anyway it worked showing latest version on start up. Copied all my third party assets back in checking each one with a start up and all is well again, the 101 ( Stunning model BTW! ) is working so I must have the new update up and running. As per though, no idea what has caused initial problem but it must have been in the Kuju file.

Further to the above I have since discovered most of my scenarios don't work and cannot be edited as entering either option results in freezing of the game.
