Just so you guys know if you put the rear cab in 4th gear before starting off it will get rid of the screaming. I was going to edit all the files to fix it until I realized how many they were and that it would just get reset. So this works for now.

I mean between all your addons, tom, dick, and harrys addons it's beyond annoying restoring mods everytime you verify files. Takes two minutes tops to edit a scenario to use cloned stock and never have to worry about it again. There is more community made scenarios that use the Class 101 then default 101 scenarios. So guess who wins doing it my way? The community.
Your decision! Was only offering my thoughts as requested :P.

Which is why some of us often suggest that such mods should be forwarded to RS.com so they could distribute them to everyone (of course it'd most likely take a couple of years, but still...)

Wasn't the original physics mod that toned down performance sent to RSC, never saw the light of day?

It was. Perhaps nothing has been done because they are happy with it as it is or implementing it would have caused too much extra work as it would have probably broken some scenarios. On the other hand they might be waiting until the diesel-mechanical simulation in the core has been made to work properly.

 Indeed it was.. Mess all around. Beers on me.
haha yes, "True" no,thats the word :P
Just change a False to a True as phat2003uk posted somewhere, I cant remember where now,

quote:
Pleased to report that after a quick test, the 'GearLever' control can now be passed down the consist meaning that if you're a player train, you no longer have a screaming rear power car. All you have to do is go to every driving car .bin file and under the 'GearLever' control, change ApplytoConsist from 'eFalse' to 'eTrue'. Hopefully this little change can go out via an official update sometime soon .

---------------------------

And with a system of having an extra Assets folder kept outside of my main RW install with only the updated files in, but with the full assets file structure,
It's just a quick copy & paste to replace any modified default files after a verify or update.
I would think you could do the same with any AP sound packs that you may have too.

ps: just make sure that the files that you're replacing isn't one the was updated in an update :P
I've been to Eastbourne too, So what!

Thanks, and of course to Richard for finding the solution in the first place. I missed his post the first time round, it's here: http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 6#p1485736

Is anyone daft/brave enough to try this? It's a little utility to change the gear setting to "eTrue" as per Richard's findings, and simply saves going through all the .bin files each time Steam overwrites them. It's a prototype, PLEASE back up your Class101 folder before trying it. If you're in Vista/7, you'll need to run it as admin - it doesn't work otherwise.

If you want to try it, please PM me or click the link below.

Let me know what you think, if it's successful I'll upload it to the file library.

Actually mines in C:/games/steam but that's my choice - just means manually altering the path in the installer. Works fine though when installed :) Thanks Paul for doing files with installer. Any chance of doing the 111 while you're at it please??????? :D

I did a patch for this, but realised I had the AP 2 tone pack installed so I'd need to do it again for defaults. One for the list, but I'm rather put off the 101 until they fix the interior shader glow that looks hideous in TS12 in anything other than bright daylight. I don't think there's any way of turning that off without editing the shape file, which means a fix couldn't be distributed.
