Thanks for these Richard I watched all the Indian Hill Railway progs they were superb, now we need an elephant on the track to get the atmosphere correct

Hi Richard.
Thanks for this lovely little loco and coaches, they are brilliant.
I have just taken it for a run on the Phorum Peninsula route, it is quite powerful little loco.
Best Regards
Clive

Re: Drop of Darjeeling anyone?
Thanks for the comments. The engine is a bit too 'nippy' really. I just needed to make sure it had enough power to get up hills and don't know enough about the simulation files to get low down power, without it setting off like a greyhound!
If I do ever get round to making the route, an animated elephant will be a must, at least for the lower altitude part of the line.

Hi Richard,
thanks for the locos and coaches,to prove how powerful they are for a test I done a run double headed run up the Snowdon route,
and reached the top addmitted it was only 3 MPH
Little Paxton NG has imported the set and they look great ,thanks.

Re: Drop of Darjeeling anyone?
Unfortunatly the B class is a Sharp Stewart product not Hunslet, however they have been often compared to Linda and Blanche which are a simalar size.ChrisBarnes wrote:Such an attractive hunslet. Well done Richard and thankyou in advance for the upcoming upload.![]()
EDIT: Come to think of it, it isn't that suprising that it looks like a long, saddle-tanked version of the hunslet that has been modeled by Kevin.

Chris
At least we now have an excellent Railworks model which kind of makes up for the fact the real railway is going to the dogs.

Really? I'm sure I remember seeing 'Hunslet in Leeds' manufactures plate on Indian Hill Railways. Oh well.
EDIT: No, I'm definitely wrong http://www.dhrs.org/html/dhr_no__19.html

Thanks Richard for the 'b' class, really enjoying it. Hehe, we should nickname it the narrow guage terrier!

Re: Drop of Darjeeling anyone?
Just to recap Richard, these are preferably for 2ft gauge rather than 2ft 3in? Currently having a crazy idea for a relatively "quickie" ng route and I would prefer to build with the correct track type.

Thanks Richard
The locos are magic I have used them for a narrow gauge addon for the Project Platform. Vern if they have been built for 2ft they run happly on 2ft 3in take a look at some of screens.
Richard will be following your route building

Hi Vern
The Darjeeling prototype is 2ft gauge, but I challenge anyone to notice the extra 3 inches, if you use the 2ft 3" track in Railworks! Look forward to seeing the route.
Cheers

Re: Drop of Darjeeling anyone?
I made a start with 2ft track.
It's going to be loosely based on the Campbeltown and Machrihanish, in that I'm projecting the real line never closed in the 1930's and remained open as a thriving tourist operation. I've managed to identify the course of the line (largely obliterated on GE) from old OS maps and all the markers are done. The modern setting allows me to play around with the trackplan, as I haven't been able to find much on the original at least on line. I know there is a book, but SWMBO would brain me if I buy yet another railway title for a route that didn't make it to completion, though at just over five miles even I should be able to do this one without losing interest.

Re: Drop of Darjeeling anyone?
I'm also about to begin a 2ft narrowguage route: The Laberis Lake Railway: a beutiful line that sits in the shadow of Snowdon and the slate industry while being covered on one side by the beautiful Lamberis Lake. The railway has beautiful stock which either includes or is very similar to Kevin Martins ecxelent 'Britomart'.
Did a research recky last week as well as going up Snowdon
but it would be a wonderful place to run Richards wonderful loco!
I'll post a topic in the route building section when I get a bit further.
Looking forward to your route Vern!
Best Wishes
John

Re: Drop of Darjeeling anyone?
Snowdonia is indeed a beautiful part of the world. I traveled on the Snowdon Mountain railway, which was simply incredible, but I must say I was pleased to see the Llamberis lake hunslets, which smelled of steam engines, not toxic, sulphurous, yellow smoke from the mountain engines.

Re: Drop of Darjeeling anyone?
Slight bump - Richard I've been using these locos to test my VOR as the Project Platform ng locos stall on the 1 in 40 grade above Capel Bangor. However I have noted what appear to be a couple of issues you might want to look at.
The coal value is shown as something like 1688000lb, suspect that should be 1688.
Although I can hear the injector working and fireman shovelling, with AI fireman no coal appears to be going into the firebox or water into the boiler.
The brake application appears to be all or nothing - 30% Apply which does nothing or 100% Apply which puts them into emergency. This will make it very hard to set/lap or do a partial release during a downhill run and makes normal station stops a bit tricky.
There's also a slight longitudinal oscillation of the loco at the @20 MPH which actually looks quite cool, you would almost think the suspension is reacting to rough track but as we know that isn't enabled in RW.
Otherwise fantastic running the lovely loco on a ng route (which also still needs a bit of work!).
