Ah, right; I was wondering if you had inside information :)

Have they done any original sounds on any of their locos thus far? I know the Class 40 came out in "Silver edition" with aliased 37 sounds (later rectified by AP) but the N2 and the 2P I bought had default sounds.

Similarly, not sure if any of their rolling stock has custom sounds, either...?

Looks a nice model, mind :)

It was noted quite awhile ago that they were working on sourcing sounds for both the tank loco and west country. I'm quite sure both the tank loco and the preserved Tangmere are in service so it should be a issue of getting the sounds. Last update anyway was sound and scenarios left to do and they have also shown the Southern liveries.

Last info was that they've sourced bulleid sounds but not 4mt sounds yet. But that was a few weeks ago. Plenty of 4MT's about but not many running at the moment. I can think of 80072 at the Llangollen and 80104 at Swanage. I think 80078 has just gone out of service.

Just a update for people who ain't aware, the Light Pacific and the 4MT have been sent off to RSC for beta testing according to there main website and a entry on the twitter. As noted in there announcement, sounds haven't been sent with the Light Pacific or 4MT as they are being prepared by a third party, 4MT sounds are still in requirement of being sourced.

So it looks like we could have ourselves a Light Pacific pretty soon, maybe in a week or two, since also the 02 shunter has also been sent off to testing and thats due for release this Friday.

Great news! I'm looking forward to these. Bulleids are so unique in sight and sound. I can't wait to drive one! Thanks for the heads up. Regards Matt(92212)

Not wishing to knock anybody here, but to my eyes the West Country doesn't appear a major improvement to Matthew Ivey's excellent freeware version for Rail Simulator?

THe 4MT does look very nice though :)

Maybe not to some people, but...

A. Does his FREEWARE model come with a custom cab (which I travelled god knows how many miles to do research for, in January... on a motorbike)?
B. Does it come with custom sounds?
C. Are the physics correct? (Something tells me they aren't? I have worked with real Bullied pacifics so i should know).
D. Is the detail up to standard? We have worked day in day out for weeks to get it just right.

I rest my case

I'm hoping the Light Pacific is released prior to the 4MT anyway and the 4MTs outsourcing of sound holds no bearing on the release. I'm really looking forward to this locomotive since it was only a shortwhile ago that I was able to experience being behind the Tangmere and I have to say, what a hell of a experience it is to hear and see the locomotive up close.

I'm wondering though if DT has managed to capture the Light's wheel slip when they started up, be the icy on the cake with the sounds and the lovely model thus far shown.

Also, my minds abit fuzzy, but I can recall mention of having a non-streamlined Light pacific being included in the pack, has that been changed now as I've only really seen pictures of the Tangmere and the southern liveries.

Matt's model is very good but it's one of his earlier models and is aliased to default cab and sounds so I think it's pretty clear already that DT's version will improve upon it in most respects. Such a distinctive and popular loco really deserves the full treatment DT are giving it in terms of custom cab, sounds and physics - including realistic wheelslip I trust. I do hope they follow on with a rebuilt version.

I had the ride of my life behind tangmere in 2008 on the torbay express! I hope the bristol-exeter route is done soon. I wanna re-create that experience in rw! I'm sure this model will be awesome. And i have to say from the screenshots, its abundantly clear that you guys at DT have built the best bulleid model yet!! Regards Matt(92212)

Hello BigBenB5051,

Just noticed you are just down the road from me.. :)

Did you pop along the other day to see Nunney Castle and the King go through Chippenham Double Headed?

** Back on Topic**
Was Watching a Program last night on the Spam-Can.. Notorious they where for slipping starts, well so the narrator said!
They where quite prevelent on the S&D, so looking forward to few good scenarios to drive :) :) That unique noise too! :)
One for the Surround sound me thinks! :) I'll park it next to my Black Five and 9F in my own little S&D Engine shed... :) HA!

Cheers

Matt
