Oh how wonderful to be one of the older people ( some call us Geriatrics ) memories for me - apart from the preserved lines and odd main line bashes, were working out of Brighton on the Plymouth / Cardiff departing P2 on a tight curve - hopefully the DT model will allow realistically the ease of which these machines lost adhesion - or slipped like hell !!!

Was taught how to drive these beauties (well 257 Squadron) at Swanage in the last century by Stan Symes, a retired Bournmouth Shed driver. Trick, when pulling away from a stop, is to open the regulator, count one two three, close regulator, count one two three and then repeat sequence until you feel that she is not going to lose her feet.

They also had steam reversers (as did the M7s) which were a bit tricky to find the right cutoff until you got the hang of them.

Lets hope DT manages to capture all these traits.

Hi ben,

Just wondering, is there any updates as to what's happening with your castle and king add ons?

4MT is looking fantastic. Absolutely sure I will buy it. Big gap in RW rolling stock will get filled with release of this nice side tank loco. Port Road was crying for that.

The 'King' is getting there, the 'Castle' needs to be rebuilt as it's not up to standard.

Its all looking superb... cant wait to see some pics of SR liveried Spam Cans.

I should point out (since someone mentioned it) The Gresley Coach shown is not one of mine so must be something else DT have in the pipeline.

Thanks for clearing that one up Matt! It'll be a great compliment to your BR liveried ones!

These packs do look great indeed!! I cant wait for them lovely detail.

My only wondering is that will the final version of the modern day tangmere feature functioning: AWS, TPWS and Air brakes as she has in reality.

I just hope they are not released soon as I will be skint buying all these add ons :D

Fantastic!! I wonder what the LNER loco will be? Hmmm........we know that one of the coming loco's is going to be the king. Maybe an A3? I'm sure we'll find out soon. Thanks for the heads up anyway. Regards Matt(92212)

The LNER loco could be a K3 2-6-0 - I saw a clay render of this on their site some time ago.

If you want an A3 then try Peter Harvey's version (harveype) - I recently repainted this in BR green as well.
