Southern Region

Post by nsupersonic »

Just wondering when the old Southern Region (present day South West and Southern Trains area mainly ) Locos,EMU's etc.. of the British Rail era ; will ever be released on Railworks

Not an exhaustive list -

Any EMU before Desiro units
ANy DMU before class 158/9
Any Diesel loco before class 37 (33 Crompton Prime Example)

Please note I am no way against the Desiro EMU's (I do hope they release them as well) and I 158/159 DMU's are already released anyway - but slam door stock does bring back some fond memories.

I'd love to see some class 73 electro-diesels or third rail equipped class 71s :D

It would be great to see a 2-Bil or 4-Cor. They wouldn't be out of place on RSadam's South West Trains project.

The Southern region seems to be the region most people have ignored completely. Being a Southerner I'd love anything Southern whether it's a U Class or a 444. I have no idea when these Bulleids are coming out though, progress seems to have either frozen or just not being shown on the site.

Ohh, something else to look forward too :)

If I'm not mistaken, you have based this (and the 27 shown on your website) on the Class 26 - the lack of windows on the cab doors is a dead giveaway, but IIRC only the 26 had this feature applied in the mid - late '70's.

I would also like some southern stock bath the old slam-door units and the modern SWT Deseros.

I did try to develope my own route based on the the triangle Winchester in the North, Southampton in the West and Portsmouth and Havant in the East. This would include the Porthsmouth Southampton Line and the Fareham Eastleigh Branch, a Goods Yard and Maintenence Depot at Eastleigh, a Container Terminal and Dock at Southampton and an Airport at Eastleigh. Traffic movement would have been interesting as it would have London mainline to Portsmouth and Southampton, South coast services to Portsmouth, Cross Country services from Portsmouth to Southampton and beyond and local services Portsmouth Fareham Eastleigh Winchester plus Goods and Container Traffic.

Unfortunately my dream was not met but my ability to carry it out so unless someone else (with more skill) is inspired by the idea it will only exist in my dream. I do have some DEM data if anyone is interested

Is Adam building a route as well as the Desiro, that'll be superb, but, it'll take some time....

I didn't know Adam was building a Desiro.
However he has previously posted screenshots of his Class 455 and SWT route on this forum.
