Horn sound with loop.

Post by Reppo »

Hi!

Many of horns are setup with 3 differents sounds, start, loop and end. I have noted than F7 (diesel american loco) uses a different method with a single sample with marks to create a loop in the middle of wav sample.

I have tried to use Adobe Audition to create this kind of sample, but without success. Simply RW ignores the marks of loops.

I have tried also with Goldwave, Sound Forge and other with the same luckless results. :bad-words:

Does anybody know wich is the best sound editor to set this kind of loops? Some little guide for get it? Please.

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

Looping single sound files in RS/RW is achieved by using "sample loops" and not cue points/markers. It's confusing because a number of the default looping horn/whistles contain cue points as well, but don't use them. Only program I have found that can show, change and save sample loop markers is Wavosaur ( http://www.wavosaur.com ). However I have found that whilst I can get OK sounding loops in Wavosaur they end up with alot of clicking when used in RS/RW. Have never solved this (gave in trying to be honest). The only other sound software I could find was professional, complete with professional price tag!

Sony Sound Forge will also allow you to create a sustaining loop sample. This method however can give you headaches because you may have a perfect loop without any interference and jumps in the program but once exported into RW's it's another story.

I'm currently researching other methods for the horn system. So far the separate loop files is the best way for maximum clarity.
