Re: 9F Evening Star
I have had the same issue with the "skin" sliding back down the train after returning to view 2. But I also get exactly the same thing on the green SD-40s so I don't think its the 9F alone. It's quite surreal to watch!
Just to add, the 9F is the pinnacle of what's being modelled in RW, worth every penny as far as I'm concerned and I'm looking forward to the rest of the IHH stuff

Re: 9F Evening Star
I have been in contact with Sly, I have found that it is not just the 9F with the skin problem. After I did some testing, it appears that if you save F2 whilst in the cab, this causes the problem after reloading RW then load the save. If you save from an outside view e.g 2, the problem does not happen.bdy26 wrote:I have had the same issue with the "skin" sliding back down the train after returning to view 2. Happens with other loco's, not just the 9F. I seem to remember that there was a problem with RS a long time ago, perhaps it has slipped back into RW.

Confirmed. It did it to me when driving a Jubilee, too.anthonye wrote:If you save from an outside view e.g 2, the problem does not happen.

Re: 9F Evening Star
Yeah, that happened to me several times, with different engines... apparently, it has to do with the new format the saved gamed are sotred in...
It has been reported to rs.com and it is being looked into.
Hopefully, a fix/patch will be provided soon.

The fireman is a slacker, and takes advantage of you being on automatic fireman by swanning around waving to all and sundry.

Re: 9F Evening Star
Hi ,
I have just finished reading this topic from the first to last post and I may have misssed the answer to what I was looking for?
My question is: Is the 9F Tender pactch to be installed only if you have purchased it direct, ie non via Steam?
Thank you.
Antony

Re: 9F Evening Star
I doubt it. I believe the Steam version has been updated so at worst, all you've done is applied the patch to files that have already been fixed, so you'll be fine. But, in general, you should't ever have to manually apply a patch to something installed via Steam as that defeats the purpose!JamesC wrote:Oh dear, I purchased from Steam but I have used the patch, has this mest up my 9f install?

Re: 9F Evening Star
Apologies if somebody already has raised this but on the Iron Awe scenario, I have 2 issues. Not sure if it's me being daft (which is entirely possible) but...
1) You can't "set" the crossover as it's Locked by Service 1, the train you're trying to couple to. You have to force trip the junction by riding across the points at low speed.
2) Once you couple to the back of the Ore train, are you then supposed to switch locos to the front loco? Because if so, then I can't seem to be able to do it. And if I do try to drive the train using the rear loco, the leading loco just goes straight into wheel slip mode and sparks and embers and black smoke come pouring out of the stack. I'm guessing that this *isn't* what's meant to happen, as it seemed to have no problem at all pulling the ore train forward by itself just beforehand?
Any ideas?
Thanks!
And by the way - overall - fantastic add-on!
Thanks Sly!

Re: 9F Evening Star
In the Iron Awe scenario the only way I have found to avoid slipping like your on ice is to open the regulator to 10% or less and with full forward reverser until the loco is above 10MPH, then open it very gradually until you can reach the desired speed...

Re: 9F Evening Star
Both true and I think that is the way it is. Not perfect IMHO but if you stay in the banking loco, as you supposed to be, you do not see what happens in the front 9F. This going into a violent wheelslip for no valid reason is also happening with the 9F in other scenarios. Here you just reduce regulator sufficiently, sometimes close the regulator altogether, and the slipping stops. Also not very realistic but only a minor issue, relative to being able to drive this wonderful 9F. Perhaps Sly could look into this when he has the time.forostar wrote:Apologies if somebody already has raised this but on the Iron Awe scenario, I have 2 issues. As far as forcing the trailing point open as you mentioned under 1, it is good and realistic that you can do this in RW at low speed. It is not in line with the instructions of the scenario though...oh well
Happy driving

Thanks Guys!
Just didn't make sense that the leading loco didn't seem to be doing any "work" as such!
But, I completed the scenario, so must have done summat right!

Re: 9F Evening Star
I believe in earlier discussions it was claimed by IHH the "maximum power" burst under certain conditions is a RW core bug.
I had it when your train was stationary and brakes fully applied, the throttle flew open unsolicited with an almighty eruption of smokes and sparks, plus wheelslip.
Will be interesting to see if Matt P's review captures it...
