I really cant see your problem Lee, If all you got with the pack was the 9F then it would still have been very good value, he's given us a FREE BONUS loco that can be used that Works, So what that in say 6 months he realeases a pukka 9F standard 5mt that we have to pay for, remember this model was a very early model rendered for RS, it is no different than hornbys old class 08 you got with your train set then hornby release a great proper model, they are not going to give you it for nothing just because the old one you had came with your first train set and was frankly Rubbish. The 5 mt is still an acceptable model, just not quite up to SLY's lateset standards.LeeEAS wrote:So wait, you're offering an incomplete model for free, but you're going to charge for the completed one whether or not they have the old version?

Re: 9F Evening Star
Oh no, here we go again.
I personally thought this was a generous offer of Sly to include his early RS version of his Standard 5MT with his 9F purchase and I'm always happy to receive anything for 'free'.
Lets hope we can turn this Thread back onto more positive things.

Re: 9F Evening Star
I like many others think the 9F is probably the best payware loco. The other day I had problems with braking, Sly sent me some instructions on how to do it correct in the 9F.
So you get quality and excellent support for your money, a bit rare from other area's.

What should I do Lee ... tell me? give them the next model I make for free. ?
I have taken a copy of your post, just so as I can demonstrate the kind of people I have to put up with
let me spell it out for you.
I have an old model that I decided to give my customers.. they can use it if they want or not..
when I finish making the brand new one up to the same standards as the 9F then it will be for sale if anyone wants to buy it.
was that really difficult ?
Or are you just looking for an argument again..?
Sly
In fact Your post has been reported for Trolling..
Very happy with the 9f, delighted to receive a complimentary loco (although personally haven't used it yet) and looking forward to supporting the builder by buying the new model when it's ready.
Keep up the good work and ignore the minority who cannot see what they're getting!!

Re: 9F Evening Star
Can't believe I just read that.
Simple solution though, just don't give anything else away. Then somewhere down the line, when people complain that nobody gives anything for free, point them to a certain post in this thread and they will see why. I've been saying it for months now, nobody gives gratitude for anything these days, they just want to complain for the sake of it and it has now become pathetic.

Please guys, DO NOT keep adding to the problem by commenting or quoting previous arguments as it's really not helping calm things down - let the moderation team deal with it. If you have something fresh to say about the 9F, fine. If you just wish to add fuel to the flames, please think very carefully before you post....

Re: 9F Evening Star
I sympathise with Sly's frustration on this, but this sort of action would not only seem a little petulant but would also penalise the vast majority of happy buyers rather than the critics, who probably don't buy the stuff in the first place.Simple solution though, just don't give anything else away.
Re: 9F Evening Star
I've dug into Sly about sounds and what not in the past, but his giving out of the 5MT for free is very generous in my opinion. You get a fantastic 9F and another loco in the package which is completely free, well done Paul

Re: 9F Evening Star
Hello, the 9F does look to be a pinnacle achievement in modelling, easily worth the expense even without the generous extra content from sly. Regarding the extra content, ie the bogie hopper, could anyone kindly confirm to me whether or not it is included in the STEAM download ( its not specified on the steam page)? I have searched through the threads, so my apologies if this has been answered somewhere!
Re: 9F Evening Star
I think you get the same bonus content thru Steam as thru IHH, with exception of the 5MT.hokitika67 wrote:Hello, the 9F does look to be a pinnacle achievement in modelling, easily worth the expense even without the generous extra content from sly. Am I right in thinking that once you buy an IHH product through Steam, you then get any future IHH bonus content?USRailFan wrote:I think you get the same bonus content thru Steam as thru IHH, with exception of the 5MT.hokitika67 wrote:Hello, the 9F does look to be a pinnacle achievement in modelling, easily worth the expense even without the generous extra content from sly. Re: 9F Evening Star
Just to add my voice to the other very satisfied users of the 9F.
Absolutely great model, a must buy if you like UK steam or trains in general.
The 5MT is a sincere commercial gesture to direct customers, Sly had no obligation to include it.
Can't understand people whinging about a freebie, but there again some will never be satisfied!

Re: 9F Evening Star
I bought this last week, as a treat after meeting an important deadline that has kept mr from using RW at all.
A stunning model, well worth the wait. I finally, thanks to this thread, got the coupling settings right for the Summer Saturday scenario, first couple of goes I got AI collisions. Also, in Iron Awe at the start I have to force a trailing point apart, as the crossover doesnt change for me to couple up at the rear.
I havent driven in 'expert' before, but am now so I can use the sanders.
Finally, sometimes when I put my head out of the cab in Iron Awe, I leave behind a skin of the boiler, like a snake moulting! If I knew how to make screenshots I'd show you.
Thanks anyway Sly, and "Illegitimis non carborundum"!

I have had the boiler skin sliding up through, only seems to happen after an F2 save, then loading, but seems to go awayMonsMeg wrote:I bought this last week, as a treat after meeting an important deadline that has kept mr from using RW at all.

Re: 9F Evening Star
Good grief. Sorry Sly I didn't mean to stir up a argument, I just wanted to see a couple of larger images of the 5MT.
I understand the use of the white background, but locos somehow look nicer on rails.
