File sizes

Post by gavo01 »

Some of my blender models that I'm currently making are coming out at about 350-450kb's, ie the single modern lamp and the double modern lamp.

Obviously I could potentially use up to 15 of these on a single station and this will no doubt have an impact on my FPS.

I think that these are quite big file sizes for what they are, although they are now fully textured, maybe this could have something to do with it. :-?

I am using three textures for the lamps, one at 10kb's (256x128), one at 1kb (256x256) and the other at 0.6 kb's (32x32).

When the files are exported are they compressed at all or will this be the file count?

If not, what is the best way to trim down the file size to a more respectable amount that won't kill FPS?

Are you referring to Blender .blend files, exporter .igs files or final .GeoPcDx files? To give you a comparison the .blend file for my class 58 is 2.5Megs, the .igs file 12.2Megs, and the final .GeoPcDx file is 1.3Megs.
