Still, that's only a fraction of what she spends on make-up/shoes/handbags etc.

Yes it would. If you had gone to the next screen by pushing the 'purchase for myself' button' it would have told that you that you already had some or all the items.
I know, as I tried to purchase the V2 only to discover that I had already had this stock. Doh

Now starting an over 60s Railworks Club for the totally bemused and bewildered

I've spent about £200 on this. But it's a cheaper hobby than flight simming where one type of plane could cost you £60+

In USD:
  • 52.99 for Rail Simulator 'Cajon Pass edition'
In EUR:
  • 5.00 for Foliage Pack 01 (RS addon)
  • 19.99 for RailWorks
That's about 60~65 EUR.

I'm not a good consumer, it seems. :-?

For something you enjoy doing, you shouldn't have to be constantly worried about the cost? I dread to think how much I have spent on golf and travel in the past years, and if you add in alchohol and cigarrettes into the equation, then RW pales into insignificance!!

I am worried about the cost when i have about 3 times as much content for TRS for about 20 quid.....not the same quality in some parts, but in others it is as good IMHO.

RW is very expensive looking at it from my viewpoint, that is comparing it to other simulator software addons and my own circumstances. One thing that has made it so is the movement of freeware developers to the payware side, that is their right of course and I dont have a problem with that but it has had an effect.
The pricing level of individual models is too high for the content you get, yes I know how many hours and effort go into producing them.
Take the Hall, a fine model and one I wanted to add to my install but I couldn't bring myself to part with £11.99 but all of a sudden one day it was offered for £7.99 and I bought it straight away.
The point is £7.99 is closer to its true value to me (maybe should be £5), for goodness sake the whole game was only £30 .
Maybe as Sly has already hinted himself with his 9F, third party developers may sell their models directly to us (Paypal or something) thus cutting out Steam JT etc. and we can get them at more reasonable price levels.

The answer to the thread question is around £80, far more than I would ever of dream I would spend on a computer game and far more than what is sensible. Dam you RailWorks :)

I've spent around the equivalent of 1 and a half decent 4mm scale locomotives. So for me, it's still a lot cheaper than my former addiction. If I'd bought all the equivalent stock for a model railway that I have for Railworks I'd have stumped up at least £1200.00 (and only had one of each type!)

In relation to this thread I have spent £168 on add-ons from Steam, plus the JT addons (excluding NY Modern & A4) brings the total upto more than £240.
