But I am stuck... the bleuprint editor does not open in Win 7.
I see only an icon on the taskbar.
Support has my mail.
Have you tried restarting Railworks Theokus?
I sometimes get that but after a quick restart the blueprint editor works fine.

Ok but it doesn't help.
No problems in XP Pro, works just fine.
But I have to change the harddisk to use XP.
I really don't understand what's going on here.
But anyway: thank you for your answer.

as you have a Nvidia card what version of the drivers are you using? I had a similar problem a little while ago and on investigating found out that there was a problem with PhysX drivers that were installed at the same time, I went onto the Railsim Wiki and it listed this link to Nvidia
http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx_9.09.0428_whql.html for a version of PhysX and this worked for me. Having said all that I have recently updated my video drivers again to version 197.13 without any problems

I think I know what is going on here?
I presume that there is a file that needs updating (i.e. written to). If that is the case if RW is installed within 'Program Files' then Vista (and Windows 7) will not allow this to happen because of the (over bearing) security settings applied by M$.
I would suggest that RW is re-installed in its own dedicated folder tree (move 'Steam' etc.) preferably to a dedicated partition as that makes it easier to back-up!
That way any files that need to be written to (and that includes any updates made with RW_Tools) will be allowed.
I have encountered this with several other, unrelated, pieces of software and carrying out the above 'dedicated folder' procedure solved it everytime!
Hope this helps?

... unless you fancy making another, dedicated, partition - yes?!
Also, have a read of the Steam 'Technical Support' page (under the Help tab) for some more info. & guidence. I also seem to remember that there is a way of 'moving' the whole Steam folder from one place to another? Sorry can't help further on that as I must dash out now - back this afternoon!
Good Luck
Peter.

You cant just move files etc to other partitions / drives, there are entries in the registry pointing to
their location when Steam / RW was first installed. Just moving them will cause you more problems
due to the registry looking for those files.
Your best bet is to do an un-install and of Steam & RW and have it over and done with.
Then format the partition / drive, then re-install, and then you should have no problems.
When its all installed do nothing to it except defrag it.
What I do is I copy the Assets and Contents folders to another partition, then defrag RW, when its finished I put back only the Assets folder and defrag ONLY that folder - in my O&O defrag this can easily be done - then I copy back the Contents folder and defrag only it.
When running RW those 2 folders are where all the routes etc files are stored.
I'm running RW in W7 x64 Pro with not a problem.

Just to round this one off (from my point of view...)
Thanks to all for suggestions, 'Support' came through in the end and having tried several things, an uninstall & reinstall of the .NET Framework 3.5.1 did the trick.
So I'm back up and driving once more!
The 'Start' window in Railworks actually states in the Titlebar " RailWorks v104.5b
(.NET 2.0) " (the bit in bold having not appeared previously).
So, it's certainly worth posting on here and persevering with these kinds of problems.
Thanks again all.....

Interestingly, every time I verify the games cache though Steam and then run RailWorks again, I have to wait whilst NET.framework is installed again. This is a regular procedure and seems to have no adverse affect on the running of the game.

Oh yes, that happened to me too (every time I do that) but it didn't fix the problem until I unistalled and reinstalled the 3.5.1 version that is packaged with Windows 7.

That is interesting information to know.

I am not sure how to proceed.
"copy the steamapp to the desktop" > how do you do this?
This is what I have:
- my C-drive = 160 GB. > free space = 12 GB (is a SSD).
- the steam folder = 24 GB and is a part ofcourse of the C-drive

So, as I see it Theo, you already have a dedicated 'Steam' folder on your C-drive (i.e. it does not nest in the 'Program Files' folder?
If that is the case then you have nothing to do and my job is done!!
